The ESP Europe 2024 call for abstract is open until 15th July. There will be a session dedicated to “Natural Capital Accounting in Economy and Finance” (T17b). Integrated accounting systems enables to connect ecosystem services accounts to the economic accounts used by economists and financial analysts in their tools and models. The importance of ecosystem services in Sustainable Finance is gaining momentum and the possibility to integrate ecosystem services in economic models is becoming a concrete possibility. The purpose of this session is collect experiences, initiatives or simply ideas to integrate ecosystem services accounts into economy and finance and start setting the ground to map in a consistent way the pillars that bridge ecosystems to socio-economic systems through services. This session welcomes contributes on initiatives, applications and research proposals on how to connect ecosystem services accounting to economic and financial models and tools. The contributions could be both theoretical and empirical. I am delighted to share a new joint working paper with Fabien Rondeau, issued from CREM (Centre de recherche en éconmie & management) at Université de Rennes. In the paper, we propose obtaining bilateral invoicing currency ratios by reverse-engineering the world invoicing currency ratios provided in Boz et al. (2022, JIE) with a weighting matrix of bilateral trade. In particular, the matrix of the bilateral invoicing currency ratios is obtained by pre-multiplying the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse of the weighting matrix to the vector of the unilateral invoicing currency ratios. https://lnkd.in/gn4tre2j

Błażej Kuźniacki in a study, embarks on an exhaustive analysis of the Principal Purpose Test (PPT) as part of the BEPS Action 6 Final Report, “Preventing the Granting of Treaty Benefits in Inappropriate Circumstances”. The author raises a query as to whether the PPT will prevent treaty abuse with a sufficient degree of precision and without giving too much discretion to tax authorities. To answer the aforementioned query, the author undertakes a comprehensive analysis of the PPT in Action 6 and in the MLI with a view to examining the potential challenges arising from its legal implementation and application in respect of the PPT.
