🏛️ Innovative Concrete Solutions for Cultural Preservation 🏛️ The construction of the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest showcases the use of cutting-edge concrete technology to protect valuable collections while ensuring structural integrity and durability. A unique aspect of this project was the design and installation of post-tensioned beams and cantilevers that support the curved façade. In these sections, C50/60 grade concrete was used, and to handle the stresses from post-tensioning, High Grade high-performance synthetic fibers were added for additional safety and durability. Additionally, Avers Aveeglass Optimo microfibers were employed to reduce early shrinkage cracks by absorbing tensile stresses during the initial curing phase. The National Sports Center project is a typical example of a national fitness public sports venue and can host large-scale and multi-sport sports events. The overall shape is like "Jade Ruyi". The huge steel structure shape can change with the roof elevation span, showing a sense of visual agility. The surface is covered with white PTFE membrane material, which rises and falls like auspicious clouds. Following the recent release of the new Gladiator film, we thought it was only right to feature The Colosseum as December's building of the month! Built between 70 AD and 80 AD, The Colosseum is one of the greatest feats of Roman architecture ever built. Conceived as a testament to Rome’s might, it was, at the time of its completion, the most complex man-made structure in the world. The exterior facade of the Colosseum consists of four levels, which, internally, provided spectator seating. Spectators were seated based on their social status, with the most elite of society closest to the arena and the lower class citizens higher up. While the Colosseum’s most distinctive feature was the arena, it’s most important was the hypogeum, its underground area. Not part of the original structure, the hypogeum was a network of tunnels and chambers across two levels, connected by shafts to the arena above. This iconic building is not to be missed!
