The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to every sector, especially the healthcare sector. For Ramakrishna Sarada Mission’s Matri Bhavan, a charitable maternity hospital in Kolkata, the struggle to serve its community became harder than ever during this time. Matri Bhavan has been serving underserved families for decades, providing free or concessional care along with offering training programs in nursing and healthcare to marginalized women. When the pandemic hit, the hospital transformed itself into a partial COVID-19 facility, creating isolation wards, operating theaters, and labor rooms for maternity patients affected by the virus. However, Matri Bhavan found itself running out of resources to maintain operations. At that moment, #InfosysFoundation stepped in to lend a helping hand. The support ensured that Matri Bhavan could sustain its vital services and meet operating expenses. Community outreach programs like rural cancer care and urban slum medical camps were revived. The much-needed Assistant Nursing Training Program, which had empowered over 165 women, was restarted, offering a path to independence for many. For Matri Bhavan, this partnership enabled them to continue their life-changing work. For the Foundation, it reaffirmed our dedication to equitable healthcare and brighter futures for women and families. #InfosysCSR | #Healthcare | #WomenEmpowerment | #CommunitySupport
