Well, let's stay waterside, shall we, because the stars of a new Hollywood film have sent a message of support to a fledgling Teeside Rowing Club. The Boys in the Boat, directed by George Clooney, has just been released, and the young members of the Infinity Boat Club in Stockton are being treated to a special screening. Phil Chapman reports from The River Tees. The newly launched Infinity Boat Club aims to bring the sport of rowing to young people in underserved communities. And by happy coincidence, a new film directed by George Clooney has come along, complete with a personal message sent from one of his actors playing the coach of a rowing team in Washington aiming for gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. A Hollywood underdog story from the past inspiring today's young rowers on Teesside, but Washington Boat is taking the lead. Congratulations and good luck to the boys and girls training at the Infinity Boat. Rub my You find the film and the story for the Washington 1936 crew inspiring and may there be many future champions among you. George Clooney was meant to be doing an introduction to us for the film, but unfortunately he's a busy man and but two of the key stars from the film have got together and they've given us a little good luck for the future. So how did the young Rowers feel about a Hollywood film pulling up alongside their own story? It's really good. We got to go and watch a film about Rowan, which is what we're taking part in and it's about the history of Rowan thinks that it's gonna be really good and I've heard that it's about the history of rowing, which is gonna be really cool that they're beginning to understand it now. At first it was a bit of history a long time ago, but there have been to understand what it's all about and the connection and how we in many ways are the underdog and that we given the opportunity will go on and be successful, inspire us all to become roles in future and. Uh, just believe that anything is possible really. Roy isn't something that's accessible to everyone, so it really opens up a lot of other doors. Be a really good experience to go watch as you can see the history of Roy and you can learn to get better from it. The Infinity Boat Club was only launched in September with a mission to use rowing to help school children realise their full potential both on and off the water. We're set up to really offer completely free rowing to to children who would never normally get the opportunity. So we've gone out to schools, reached out to them. Identifying people with talent, those that just want to give it a go and we're here to to support the community and give something back to to the the NE. It's made it so that I'm not just stuck inside because I used to do rugby but I came here and I like this a lot because I do swimming and it's a white spot, but it's really good and it gets me out the house and the team will be going out for a well earned trip to the cinema for their special screening, complete with the inspiring message from Hollywood as they begin.
