Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has achieved a major milestone in its digital transformation strategy by completing the installation of smart meters for all its customers across the UAE, with 40% of these meters already integrated into its smart systems, enabling real-time consumption monitoring. Had a great time at the EIC (Energy Industries Council) Connect24 meeting in Abu Dhabi yesterday! Thanks to Ryan McPherson and the team for organizing such an excellent event. The presentations and panel discussion were informative, and the networking opportunities were incredibly productive. Here are my key takeaways from the event: 1. Companies operating in the UAE need to pay close attention to localization targets. Not complying with these targets can lead to severe risks beyond just financial penalties. 2. The energy transition presents significant opportunities for companies who look to move some focus away from legacy O&G projects. Hydrogen especially seems to have some large value opportunities in the near future. 3. Transparency around carbon footprint is becoming increasingly critical for suppliers and contractors. Showing improvement in this area can give them an advantage when bidding for contracts. 4. It's time for the carbon capture industry to take more action and less talk. Last day of ADIPEC 2024. Same energy and more memories to look back. We do not say Good Bye but we say See You Soon in ADIPEC 2025. Years to come full of success for our dearest ADIPEC the world biggest event for professionals. We have learned a lot and shared our views. We have met many professionals we have learned from. The best thing in this version of ADIPEC is the harmony and integration between different disciplines. The AI and robotics/drones technologies become a crucial part of our lovely oil and gas industry. Now the impossible become possible with the huge progress in technologies related to energy while protecting our planet Earth. It become obvious that governments are committed to climate change and renewable energy while balancing the production of our black gold (crude oil). More and more to come in the next version of ADIPEC. Until 2025 I urge all technological bodies to explore the electrification of our upstream/downstream sides of our business as I think this type of technology will assist our efforts to minimize impact on our environment while maintaining our goals of production and cost optimization. This is my personal views and I am sure other professionals will add more to it. The list can go on endlessly because I personally believe technology will last forever as long as humankind exists.
