A collaborative effort between #ForesightGroup and the #EdenProject means sharing expertise into #ecological assessments and #climatefriendly land use. The Nature Recovery Plan was launched in May 2024, and offers guidance on benchmark-setting nature-positive schemes. The guide is aimed at developers, asset managers, facilities operators and managers. ‘The manual empowers land managers to take practical steps, to enhance biodiversity and restore nature across their holdings. It is not a one size fits all when it comes to #biodiversity. We hope the guidebook gives greater visibility and access to existing nature positive initiatives for our industry peers to use,’ Ross Driver, Managing Director of Foresight’s Solar Fund Limited (FSFL). As part of the Foresight Group and Eden Project initiative, and in partnership with #NaturalEngland, 20 people from public and private sector backgrounds have created vital habitat for the Marsh Fritillary #butterfly. The species is considered endangered, but it is hoped planting over 600 Devil’s-bit-Scabious (Succisa pratensis), a primary food source for the insect, numbers in the area will begin to climb. ‘The Marsh Fritillary butterfly is a vital component of the Mid Cornwall Moors Site of Special Scientific Interest,’ said Cerin Poland, Lead Advisor at Natural England. ‘Projects like this not only support endangered species but also contribute to the overall health and resilience of our ecosystems.’ Butterflies play a particularly key role in biodiversity analysis. Considered ‘crucial bioindicators’, the size of population reflects the overall health of immediate environment. This means sustained recovery will also depend on wider conservation efforts, and offer a gauge on how successful these have been. ‘Partnering with the Eden Project, The Nature Recovery Blueprint illustrates the pivotal role businesses, like Foresight, play in enriching and revitalising biodiversity. The #solar case study serves as a powerful example, demonstrating the interconnectedness between the #energytransition, #climatechange and the harmonious coexistence of nature and progress,’ said Lily Billings, Group Sustainability Lead, Foresight. 🌍 Every day should be Earth Day 🌏 Earth Day is a crucial reminder, but shouldn't every day be dedicated to our planet? At Auroville Consulting, we believe so. LiLa is one of our key tools, enabling conscious land-use practices that benefit nature, combat climate change, and meet human needs. Here's how LiLa can make a difference: 🌐 Harnessing the power of GIS mapping: LiLa leverages Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create a clear picture of our land. This allows for data-driven decision making for sustainable land use. 🌞 Informed Land-Use Choices: LiLa helps identify the most suitable land for various purposes. This ensures we're not putting solar parks on fertile agricultural land or planting trees where watersheds need restoration. 🌱 Restoring natural carbon sinks: LiLa facilitates the restoration of forests and other natural carbon sinks, which are crucial for capturing and storing carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas. By using LiLa, we can achieve: ☀ Expansion of clean energy: Identify ideal locations for solar energy parks, maximizing clean energy production. 💧 Rejuvenation of groundwater resources: Locate areas best suited for watershed creation, promoting healthy water tables. 🌳 Carbon sequestration & Biodiversity protection: Target reforestation efforts for optimal carbon capture and to protect valuable ecosystems. Take a step towards a greener future! Explore LiLa: https://thelila.org/ #EarthDay #ClimateAction #LiLa #GISMapping #aurovilleconsulting #LandUse

I loved this conversation with Tom Godfrey, founder of Earth Change who is taking a pragmatic #marketdriven approach to #naturerestoration. Check out the discussion here: https://lnkd.in/e3h2Sigj Tom speaks about his work in pricing and placing a #value on nature through a variety of nutrient and #biodiversity codes, and then how he applies these to create #circulareconomy solutions, which result in the #financing of restoration of natural habitats and the generation of a profitable business model. Although not conceptually new, It truly #blowsmymind to imagine a future where we have "restoration businesses" like Earth Change competing to #restorehabitats at the lowest costs and therefore returning the best return to their investors. This kind of market model has the potentially to drive truly massive levels of investment into nature restoration. One of the most exciting, and practical solutions I've come across.
