YPS welcomes OPRL labelling change: During March 2024, OPRL changed the appropriate recycling advice label for PP, PE, and Mixed Polyolefin flexible plastics, all of which are widely used as packaging materials. The changed advice reflects the changing recycling landscape in the UK, confirming to consumers that these materials are now more readily able to be recycled. “The ability to […] The post YPS welcomes OPRL labelling change appeared first on Industrial Compliance.

Creating a closed loop for stretch film in logistics and distribution significantly reduces carbon emissions and decreases reliance on virgin materials. Packaging manufacturers are embracing stewardship by establishing closed loops with customers, transforming used stretch film into post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin. This recycled resin finds new applications, meeting the demand for recycled content among customers. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mandates are gaining traction globally, prompting Australian companies to take their own proactive steps. This case study in North Carolina features innovative plastics technology from EREMA Engineering Recycling Maschinen und Anlagen Ges.m.b.H., relying on INTAREMA® and ReFresher technologies to create high quality resins for reuse. The collaboration between Atlantic Packaging and Coca-Cola Consolidated in North Carolina exemplifies a collective effort towards a circular economy and closed-loop system for stretch film. Watch the video to learn more about this transformative initiative and discover how investments in plastics recycling machinery can drive Australia's circular economy forward. https://lnkd.in/gm3ZQAyJ

Plastic recycling actually happens and there are many clever people out there achieving a lot with plastics recycling. They feel deeply offended when one says that plastic recycling was a lie. From their individual perspective this is well understandable. And yet, looking at the plastic system as a whole, it is evident and always has been evident that plastic recycling at large economic scale makes little sense, also doesn’t happen at relevant scale and is used as a pretext to make people believe plastic was benign. Mind, we are talking about packaging plastic here, not about plastic in general. Plastic industry loves not making this distinction because it opens such nice arguments. As long as virgin for packaging plastics is by far too inexpensive, plastic recycling cannot be profitable and competitive in price - and quality is a problem too, as are legacy chemicals we don’t want to further circulate in the environment. Let alone NIAS ( not intentionally added substances), impurities, unresearched cocktail effects of substances added to the polymer, becoming most relevant once the material ends up uncontrolled in the environment. This video with Jan Dell is revealing. https://lnkd.in/d_Dfhasx
