I've stayed plenty busy for 8+ years running Ink & Key with inbound leads from anywhere and everywhere, but I've never focused on getting involved locally. Until a few months ago when I decided it was high time to scoot myself out of my comfy office and out the door to show up and serve. Who knew there were so many wonderful things going on here? Honestly, probably everyone but me. One of the things I discovered: The Growth Summit, a fantastic local conference for entrepreneurs that has been going on for TWELVE YEARS! I mentioned the Summit to my son, Ethan Swords of Cinematic Technologies and he was like, "Oh, yeah, I filmed the Summit last year." 😁 (𝘏𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮. S𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥, 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘮) It's been fun to meet and get to know ☞ Matt Vaadi, who makes the Summit happen every year. I am impressed after attending all the Summit events this week. It's tough to pull off a big event, and Matt and his team did a beautiful job. But this one thing is the most impressive fact to me. All the event expenses are covered by sponsors. This means all the event proceeds are donated to worthy causes every year. I love this so much. I met so many good people this week, and feel even more sure that Columbia, SC is a big small town with a generous heart. If you're local or local-ish (Charlotte, Greenville, Charleston) you should make plans to attend the Summit next year. #columbiasc #colasc #entrepreneurship #techstartups #medicalstartups #brandmessaging #southcarolina

Want to know my favorite part of the Summit? It's not what you would expect... It is NOT... - meeting amazing people - learning from some of the brightest minds in SC - the energy of a room full of doers This is amazing and makes all the hard work worth it but the real fun starts this weekend. I get to go "shopping" with the ticket sales. You see, we give away all of the ticket money. And one of the places we give to is DonorsChoose. If you aren't familiar with DonorsChoose, you get to fill needs in local schools directly. It is awesome. It is my favorite way to "shop". More to come on the Summit itself but this is the moment I have been waiting for. Buying books, supplies, and tools to help children in our area grow. That is what it is all about. Matthew 20:28 Let's grow!
