The secret to innovation, is identifying a problem and offering a valuable solution 💡🥥🪵 It has been proven overtime that being an innovator isn’t so hard. It only requires you to identify a problem, and do beyond what others are willing to do, to offer a valuable solution. This entrepreneur proves that fact. He identified a problem with deforestation in his community, and also with the constantly discarded coconut shells. After putting two and two together, he came up with a solution, a sustainable alternative for coal; Coconut shell briquettes. 🥥 Not only is this innovation mitigating deforestation in his community, it is also enhancing the agricultural value chain and promoting a circular economy. We all need to start finding ways to contribute to our community and the world at large by birthing innovations that help people live better and help build a greener world. #cleanenergy #renewableresources #environmentalsustainability #communitydevelopment #greeninnovation #sustainableenergy #circulareconomy #agriculturalvaluechain

As per the Frost & Sullivan report, municipal solid waste generation is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.9% to reach 115 million tons per annum by the financial year 2025. Hence the need for collection, segregation and transportation of waste along with the development of scientific recycling and disposal methods for the management of waste is only going to increase. Our conversations with teams working in this space have helped us understand the need for private capital to also augment the government efforts in this space. Which is why we are investing in Green Worms Beyond just the need for startups innovating in this space, the startup also helps Self-help Groups (SHGs) with better employment opportunities, better pay and livelihood creation—which we feel also adds to the positive changes they are pushing forward. Read more about the investment in the blog. https://lnkd.in/dxzBaskq

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) drives innovation by making producers accountable for waste, fostering eco-friendly designs, new materials, and recycling tech. It fuels entrepreneurship in waste management startups, encourages collaboration, and promotes a sustainable economy benefiting both the environment and businesses. #EPR #Wastemanagement #circulareconomy
How EPR Sparks Creativity and Entrepreneurship Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an innovation in the realm of environmental sustainability. At its core, EPR is a concept that places the onus of waste management on the producers of goods, encouraging them to take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their products. This idea didn't emerge overnight; it evolved as a response to the burgeoning environmental crises of the late 20th century. The inception of EPR dates back to the 1970s and 1980s when concerns about pollution and resource depletion began to grip the global consciousness. Governments and environmental advocates recognised the need for a shift in how we approach waste management. Traditional methods, which relied heavily on municipal services and taxpayer funds, proved insufficient in tackling the huge pile of waste. As EPR gained momentum, it ushered in a new era of corporate accountability. Instead of viewing waste as a burden to be passed on to society, businesses started seeing it as an opportunity for innovation. By integrating environmental considerations into product design, companies began to rethink their manufacturing processes. This shift led to the birth of eco-friendly materials, modular designs for easier disassembly, and innovative recycling technologies. Among the most notable qualities of EPR is its knack for promoting creativity and entrepreneurship. By imposing responsibility for waste management, EPR incentivises businesses to explore novel solutions. Entrepreneurs, in turn, seize this opportunity to develop new technologies and services aimed at reducing, reusing, and recycling materials. Start-ups specialising in waste-to-energy conversion, sustainable packaging, and circular economy models have flourished in the wake of EPR legislation. These ventures not only contribute to environmental conservation but also stimulate economic growth by creating jobs and driving demand for green technologies. Moreover, EPR has catalysed collaboration across industries. Manufacturers, retailers, and waste management companies are now working together to optimise resource utilization and minimize environmental impact. This collaborative spirit fosters a culture of innovation, where ideas are shared, refined, and implemented for the collective benefit of society. EPR has brought a shift towards a more sustainable and responsible approach to production and consumption. Promoting creativity and entrepreneurship not only tackles environmental challenges but also drives economic prosperity. #EPR #Entrepreneurship #EnvironmentalSustainability
