Very excited to see LPO's first ever conditional commitment under the Tribal Energy Financing. There is a huge amount of potential in this program to ensure that the communities most left behind during the last industrial revolution are at the forefront of the next. Importantly, the Tribal Energy Program can fund a wide range of established or emerging energy transition technologies: -Solar (with and without battery storage).  -Wind Farms (with and without battery storage).  -Microgrids and Virtual Power Plants.  -Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Stations.  -Biopower: Agriculture and Forest Waste to Synthetic Gas Power.  -Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage.  -Transmission and Distribution.  -Energy Resource Recycling. We’re empowering future makers thanks to a £5.8 million EPSRC funding award for offshore wind innovation. The new research centre, led by our Energy and Environment Institute with Durham University, Loughborough University and The University of Sheffield will energise the UK’s offshore wind ambitions with 65 doctoral researchers over 5 years. The Hull-led Centre is enhanced by an additional investment of over £12m from national and international offshore wind industry and university partners; investing in regional talent and skills and research excellence. Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dave Petley said: “I’m absolutely delighted that our new Centre for Doctoral Training has been funded. Offshore wind is a key part of the UK, and indeed the global, energy mix as we move to Net Zero. The Centre will play a key role in both developing the skills needed to drive this exciting technology and in providing underpinning research across a wide variety of activities in this field. How does the fiscal regime affect the economics of #enhancedgetothermal systems? This question is critical for: ➡ Regulators who want to incentivize the development of #cleanenergy like #EGS. ➡ Operators when considering prospects' locations. The answer is obviously a lot! ...As proper tax incentives help operators weather some of the risks inherent to Earth's uncertainties. Tied in with a database of potential locations and the cost of connecting to the grid, our model becomes a techno-economic analysis that informs on viable locations/locations risks; and thus on their ranking. Exciting developments in the #GeothermalEnergy sector are underway in Bavaria, #Germany, showcasing the relentless march of innovation in #RenewableEnergy 🌱 The European Investment Bank (#EIB) has pledged close to €45 million to support an innovative #GeothermalHeating project by Eavor Technologies Inc., a pioneering company in the field. This initiative, bolstered by a grant from the EU Innovation Fund, marks a significant leap forward in #SustainableEnergySolutions. What sets this project apart is Eavor's technology - the Eavor-Loop™. Unlike traditional methods, which rely on capturing heat from subsurface water or steam reservoirs, Eavor's approach involves drilling deep into the earth to extract heat directly from underground rocks. With support from various financial institutions and partners, including the European InvestEU-programme, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (#JBIC), and others, this project represents a collaborative effort towards a greener future. Once operational, the #EavorLoop system promises to provide #LowCarbon heating for the town of Geretsried and the wider Bavarian region.
