India today stands at the centre of world politics, and this has become possible because of the crucial and strategic steps which have been taken in the last decade. Preservation of the environment is not a choice. It is a collective common sense. Contemporary global political narratives have driven states and communities to engage towards addressing a concerning transnational issue: environmental degradation. At the same time, these political narratives now display a shift in power dynamics: the youth now has to stabilise and build towards achieving sustainability amidst such ever-growing climatic chaos. Such chaotic shifts in responsibilities towards overarching issues require incentives to deal with it on regional scale. As such, with intentions towards upholding personal responsibility towards such narratives, I hereby announce my association with ASEAN Youth Organization - India Chapter. AYO-India, being a region-centric chapter of AYO, advocates for upholding innovative approaches to deal with social issues. Thereby, undertaking the position of Volunteer, I believe in aligning my interests, as well as responsibilities towards the organisation’s mission of upholding social advocacy to create awareness. Having personal experiences in engaging towards analysing and dealing with environmental degradation and climate change within a local region experiencing direct blunt of it; initiatives provided by AYO-India Chapter becomes rather a necessity over choice. By promoting Positive Sustainable Changes through establishing constructive dialogues and engagements with youth; AYO-India Chapter thrives to facilitate regional sustainability and development, and thereby engages with its stakeholders to achieve the same. As such, I stand by this participation to support and uphold innovative approaches in order to comprehend, analyse and work towards the common objectives of sustainability. Exciting News! Cividep India and German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) have come together to address human rights challenges in Tamil Nadu's electronics sector. This is part of GIZ’s project titled ‘The Initiative for Global Solidarity’. The Cividep-GIZ collaboration will focus on multi-stakeholder dialogues and field research to understand and address issues such as low wages and precarious working conditions. ·     Promote multi-stakeholder dialogues: Will help involve all stakeholders so together we can understand and find solutions to critical issues faced by workers, especially young women, in manufacturing units ·     Ground research: Aims to provide fresh insights, to put forth evidence-based solutions beyond traditional audits ·     Digital Outreach: Engaging workers through digital platforms for broader participation & inclusivity  Let's work together towards a sustainable future for India's electronics sector and all its stakeholders. 𝐓𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐄𝐈𝐀 - 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞, 𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢 At Tisser, we're deeply committed to DEIA Catalyst Program (fully funded by the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai) U.S. Consulate General Mumbai across all our initiatives. This week, we're proud to highlight the WISE Centre in Vikhroli, a vibrant community hub under the Unnati Bachat Ghat that embodies our DEIA principles. The WISE Centre employs 35 women from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, including those from underrepresented communities. Through this initiative, these women not only earn a stable income but also gain vital skills and entrepreneurial experience. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐄𝐈𝐀 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞, 𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢: 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲: 50% of our members come from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households, 33.3% are from the middle class, and 16.7% belong to backward castes. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Five women have taken on decision-making roles, and several have developed their own enterprises, contributing to their financial independence and leadership growth. 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Regular training sessions are conducted to upskill all members, ensuring everyone has access to growth opportunities. 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: We continue to work towards making our facilities and opportunities accessible to all, regardless of their background. Every week, we will be mapping and showcasing the DEIA efforts of one of our clusters. This ongoing commitment ensures that our initiatives not only drive economic growth but also foster an inclusive and equitable environment for all.
