Just about nine years ago, I started at Spotify. Just two months ago, I decided to leave Spotify to start something new. These posts thrive on brevity, but it's odd for me to think about such a long period only via its bookends and I like time to reflect. Before leaving, I wrote a much lengthier farewell email -- I'd share but it exceeds the LinkedIn character limit -- about Spotify's power of connection as both actor & facilitator and how much everyone embodied that over the years. I still feel that! I am so grateful to have grown with Spotify and it will forever define for me what can be done when passionate people work together. I'll be posting more about the new thing before long -- what we're about, who we're working with, what roles we're hiring for -- but thought it right to pause briefly and again thank everyone who made the last nine years possible. PS: For those of y'all still working at Spotify, please drop Wrapped soon! It's so hard on this side to not get a glimpse.
Cheers to the better part of a decade at Spotify, Ian 🥂 Wishing you the best as you dive into the new gig, and hopefully some time off to celebrate all your achievements with the band. Congrats!
incredible timing on the Wrapped demands!
So exited to see you doing this! The suspense is killing me, now there may actually be a reason to visit LinkedIn 😂 Seriously though, I feel privileged to have worked with you on THREE different teams at Spotify...on each one, you demonstrated such leadership, intelligence, and capability. Anyone would be lucky to join your next endeavor!
It's Spotify's loss, but I'm excited to see where you're going, Ian. It's always exciting to see you mercilessly break down and reassemble a problem into a solution, and I can't wait to see this writ large in a company you mold. Good luck!
Excited for the next chapter in your story of good work done well!
Congrats on a great run. I’m just glad I was able to review your application and make the hiring decision way back when! Can’t wait to hear what you’re up to next.
Oh the suspense!!! Congratulations Ian. Glad to have travelled a part of that journey with you. Best of lucks on your next endeavors!
