The page evaluates Project Ujjwal's impact on reproductive and #ChildHealth in Bihar and Odisha, India. It highlights the project's success in enhancing the uptake of #ReproductiveHealth services and improving #MaternalHealthcare through a public-private partnership model. The evaluation found significant improvements in the use of contraceptives and access to antenatal care, contributing positively to both reproductive and child health outcomes in these states. Further analysis is suggested to understand the disparities in results between the two regions and address unmet demands. Anagha Lokhande Romuladus Emeka Azuine, DrPH, MPH, RN E. There is a critical shift in the Family Planning (FP) program's priorities—from raising awareness about contraceptive methods to ensuring continuation and retention of modern contraceptive usage. We have achieved a good progress on creating awareness through various IEC/SBCC and demand generation activities thus bringing significant improvement in modern contraceptive prevalence rate. The key challenge now lies in ensuring continuation and retention of contraceptive use after adoption. Discontinuation remains a significant barrier to sustained success in FP programs. Counseling is identified as the most important intervention to address discontinuation. It ensures clients make informed decisions and are better prepared to manage side effects or challenges. National Health Mission- Uttar Pradesh has implemented a training module from GoI, for all facility-based counselors, integrating Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) content to bring a broader impact on the overall RMNCAH outcomes, as contraceptive continuation is closely tied to maternal and child health indicators.
🌟 Upward and Onward 🌟 The RMNCAH+N strategy in Uttar Pradesh is key to improving #maternalandchildhealth outcomes. With unique challenges such as high rates of early marriage and low contraceptive use, an integrated approach to #familyplanning is essential. UP TSU supported the Government of Uttar Pradesh by developing a competency-building framework to strengthen the knowledge and skills of #RMNCAH+N counsellors.💡 📖 Dive into the journey of competency-building initiatives addressing critical health challenges: https://lnkd.in/gfpYgkBF

ACCESS|EMPOWER|TRANSFORM - #OurShakti Anaemia prevalence in Bihar is at an alarming 63.1% - 5% higher than the national average of 59%1. The Bihar government is doing all it can to stem this. Here is how the change has happened in Nalanda district, Bihar - through use of digital tools that have helped in making a difference, with the support of Digital Bharat Collaborative (a part of Piramal Foundation). In Nalanda district, the anaemia prevalence is 61.7%. A thrust on adoption of digital tools resulted in availability of quality data (which is key in any decision-making), thus giving a boost to data-driven governance at Health and Wellness Centres (HWC). The Nalanda district administration, equipped with data, was able to identify 4 High-Risk Pregnancy (HRP) cases, all of who were suspected severely anaemic pregnant women. These women were administered Iron Sucrose after referral to the District Hospital. A mechanism has now been established at HWC, Deepnagar for screening of all pregnant women for HRP. What is heartening is that the civil surgeon has also directed that all HWCs in Nalanda have such a mechanism in place which will go a long way in stemming maternal mortality rates. Prashant kumar will be happy to share more details of how people are always at the centre of all our digital solutions. #digitalbharatcollaborative Piramal Group Government of Bihar State Health Society, Bihar

Research reveals alarming childhood illness rates in North-East India, with #Meghalaya facing the highest burden. A recent study analyzing data from 33,199 children uncovers critical insights into the prevalence of diarrhea, fever, and acute respiratory infections (ARI) among under-five children in this often-overlooked region. Key findings show that socioeconomic factors, including wealth status, sanitation facilities, and maternal education, significantly influence these illnesses. Surprisingly, rural children had lower odds of ARI compared to their urban counterparts, challenging common assumptions. This research has far-reaching implications for public health policies in India, potentially reshaping resource allocation and intervention strategies. It highlights the urgent need for targeted approaches in improving sanitation, enhancing vaccination coverage, and addressing regional disparities in healthcare access. I'm struck by the study's emphasis on the social determinants of health. It's a stark reminder that addressing childhood illnesses requires a holistic approach beyond just medical interventions.
