Just like in everyday life, in business how we frame information can significantly influence decisions and outcomes. 🧠 Framing bias occurs when the way information is presented affects our perception and choices. #Bias #FramingBias #DecisionMaking #CriticalThinking

Pay attention to what happens when you make assumptions. Or rather, pay attention to what happens when you don't make assumptions. If we make an effort to give everyone the environment they need and deserve, and put aside our natural biases, the sky's the limit. #equitableaccess #unconsciousbias #humanleadership

While exploring cognitive biases, I came across a thought provoking quote by Daniel Kahneman in 'Thinking, Fast and Slow': 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. This highlights our tendency to see the world as more predictable and logical than it truly is. We often fill in the gaps in our knowledge with assumptions, creating a false sense of understanding. Instead of assuming we know it all, let's actively seek out areas where we might be lacking information. By challenging our assumptions, we can make more informed decisions! #CognitiveBias #DecisionMaking #CriticalThinking #ThinkingSlow #SelfAwareness #GrowthMindset #UnconsciousBias #OpenMindedness #PersonalDevelopment

Our decisions are often shaped by biases we’re not even aware of, subtly influencing how we interpret information and react to situations. Recognizing these biases is the essential first step toward making clearer, more balanced choices. From marketing messages to daily interactions, these hidden filters can hold us back or push us in certain directions. By identifying them, we gain the power to make decisions with greater objectivity and clarity. #SundaySpecial | Assumptions | The biggest assumption we make is believing that everyone navigates through life with the same map, the same compass. We assume that others think as we think, feel as we feel, judge as we judge, and yes, abuse as we abuse. But the fog of assumptions can lift. It begins with a simple yet profound act: questioning. What if, instead of assuming, we asked ourselves, "How can I try doing this?" This question opens doors to new possibilities, encouraging us to explore and experiment, to stumble and rise again. It shifts our perspective from a fixed certainty to a dynamic curiosity.

Understanding bias and how it operates is a critical component of DEI efforts. By distinguishing it from other related constructs, we can more effectively address the subtle ways it influences our behavior and decision-making. New on the blog is an in-depth look at bias and how it affects us in our personal lives and at the workplace. Are we thinkers or merely doers? Just look around you. There’s a surfeit of bullshit and an excess of talk over action. Too much is accepted at face value and blind belief is epidemic. There’s a ton of over promise and under deliver. All this is nothing new. What IS new is the readily available information & insight and what’s also new is the fuel for critical thinking. Critical thinking demands intelligence and courage. We are all intelligent & what’s missing is the courage. Think different. . . . . #criticalthinking #thinkdifferent #actionoverwords #intelligentminds #courageousliving #overpromiseunderdeliver #questioneverything #breakthenorms
