I’m my line of work, this is a common question. What do I do with my TSP? Do I leave it there? Do I Cash it Out? Do I roll it over? Here’s my take…… 1. Your Military TSP can no longer be contributed to when you leave the military. So why let it sit???? 🤔 2. You can roll it into another Qualified Retirement Account, but you leave it to risk. 3. If you are close to retirement age, I would be foolish to leave “all” your TSP to risk. Here’s is my strategy. Roll a portion of the TSP to another managed account (new job, IRA, Brokerage). And Roll the other portion into a FIXED INDEX ANNUITY: ✅Garaunteed Lifetime Income ✅Protection Against Market Volatility ✅Upside potential in the Index’s (like S&P) ✅Left over balance is paid to Beneficiaries ✅Goves your Retirement Portfolio time to Recover when the market turns during retirement!!!! Did you know there was a program to receive your military retirement tax free? The Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) program was enacted by Congress in 2002. The CRSC program provides tax free compensation for certain Uniformed Service Retirees with combat-related disabilities. Everyone’s situation and scenario is different so READ the link below. Considering retiring at 20 and still ready to work? 🤔 Financially, it might be your best move. By retiring, collecting your military pension & VA disability, and taking another job, you could earn significantly more over 10 years compared to staying in for 10 more years. 💰 While this doesn’t factor in all potential benefits of staying in, the numbers show that transitioning earlier and working another job can be a more lucrative option. #MilitaryRetirement #FinancialPlanning #Veterans

Proper planning and sound #resourcemanagement (time) has been a critical part of my #militarytransition. See, I have 200 days till I'm officially retired. But it's not REALLY 200 days. When regular leave (PTO), permissive temporary duty (PTDY)...for house hunting and other QoL activities...and terminal leave are factored in, I have 75 days of work left...whoa! Not a lot of time. Thankfully, I front loaded myself with a lot of things (networking, succession planning/successor prep, building continuity, VA appointment prep) to help me not spiral with worry and short-change myself later. The advice, tips, and additional connections provided by my #network has been indispensible (THANK YOU!). It's helped me a lot with some of the fundamental necessities I'll need for the next chapter, but also allowed me time to start planning out my next book....AND help others who are starting their military retirement journey.
