Food inflation finally started to ease in some countries this year, but with climate change causing crop failures all around the world, food prices will be an issue for the foreseeable future. I'm here at Cope with One Message. Small scale food producers need our investments in order to adapt to climate change and to extreme weather events because they are the ones that are feeding the world sustainably. They are already producing more than 1/3 of the world's food, but climate change is causing crop failures, threatening their ability to produce food and to earn a living. So as world leaders agree on new climate finance goals, here at COPE, we urge them to set an ambitious global finance goal in order to invest in small scale farmers ability to adapt to climate change. The well-being of small scale farmers are global. Food supply and planetary stability is at stake. Fast tracking progress here is not only a moral obligation, it is the smartest investment of our time.
