🤔 When will #6G technology arrive? 🤖 6G is the latest generation of wireless technology that will take over from the current system, 5G. Although #5G is still the predominant focus in the market, the technology never stops advancing, which is why we are seeing more and more reports and studies on 6G. 6G, when it arrives, is expected to be significantly faster than 5G, making use of agile cloud-based technology and higher frequency bands. 🔜 However, before getting there, #5GSA (Standalone) deployment is necessary as a preliminary step. As the 3GPP prepares to officially launch its 6G research in 2025, the current period represents a critical window for the selection of key 6G technologies. The #Third_RIS_TECH_Forum, the annual flagship event of the RIS TECH Alliance (RISTA), will be held in Xi’an in November 2024. The theme of this year’s forum, "New Vision, RIS Empowering 6G," aims to further accelerate the standardization and industrialization of RIS technology. https://lnkd.in/gXSvT-Vz In 2025, the 3GPP will formally initiate its 6G research project, and at present (2024), the selection process for 6G technologies is at a crucial stage. Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) technology, one of the potential key technologies for 6G, leverages programmable artificial materials to construct intelligent electromagnetic wave propagation environments, offering a new paradigm for future mobile communication networks. RIS technology was recognized in June 2024 as one of the "Top 10 Emerging Technologies" at the Summer Davos Forum. As the annual signature event of the RIS TECH Alliance (RISTA), the #Third_RIS_TECH_Forum will be held in Xi’an in November 2024, under the theme "New Vision, RIS Empowering 6G." The forum’s mission is to propel RIS technology forward in terms of both standardization and industrialization. The "RIS TECH Forum" has become the most significant technical exchange event in the RIS field, promoting research progress, standardization efforts, and industrial applications. The first two forums received strong support from numerous academicians and distinguished experts, attracting tens of thousands of participants worldwide through both in-person and virtual channels. ✨ Excited to share that my paper, "Peak Age of Information Analysis of Status Update Strategies in Cache-Enabled IIoT Networks", has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Internet of Things Journal. This research, done in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. A S Madhukumar from the NTU College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS), explores strategies to minimize the peak age of information violation probability in industrial Internet of Things networks—essential for real-time data freshness and reliability in Industry 5.0 use cases such as robotic fleet management and AI-driven defect inspection.
