Textbooks give you the 'what,' but the real world teaches you the 'how.' Sure, "textbooks" are packed with frameworks, standards, and methodologies that form the foundation of our profession. But let's be real what happens when you're face-to-face with a complex audit scenario that wasn't covered in any chapter? The gap is real. There’s a world of difference between understanding audit theory and applying it in the field. Textbooks won’t teach you how to handle resistance from stakeholders, adapt to unexpected challenges, or think on your feet when the audit plan goes sideways. In my experience, the most valuable lessons come from navigating tough situations, making mistakes, and figuring out how to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It’s about developing the intuition to know when to follow the rules and when to think outside the box. Are you relying solely on what you've learned in books, or are you actively seeking out real-world experiences to hone your skills? One of the best way to improve your work : 👉Understand reviewer comment. Ask for the logic behind it. 👉See how the final work is documented after their review or delivered to client. 👉See the difference what they did and what you did. Thanks for sharing this, Debbie! There are some excellent takeaways here, and this is one of my favorite lines: "Most of us are good at learning from watching others make a mistake. We learn more from hearing 'war stories' about someone’s mistakes than we take in when they tell us about their successes. It's learning from our own errors that’s so tough." Self-reflection is (in my opinion) a learned skill. The ability and willingness to pause, own our role in a failure, and then use that reflection to move forward in a positive direction is uncomfortable. It's far easier to make excuses or just put the failure behind us and move on to the next thing. Yet, there are essential growth lessons to be learned from successes and failures alike.

You have to use mnemonics, and 𝘐𝘊𝘈𝘐 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨. 🙇🏻𝚄𝙽𝙳𝙴𝚁𝚂𝚃𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙲𝙾𝙽𝙲𝙴𝙿𝚃𝚂 All of these mnemonics will not work if you don't have clarity on your concepts. During my third-year B.Com exams, everyone knew the first question. 📚 Not because the paper was leaked. Nope. 😜 It was because every year, that same question was always there. 🧐 The most asked first question? Define auditing! 🤓 I crammed this definition by heart. 🧠 According to Prof. Dicksee: "An audit is an examination of accounting..." I sat on the bench, got the paper, and boom! There it was. 📝 I jumped with excitement! 🎉 Started writing, "According to Prof. Dicksee......" Then... my mind went blank. 🤯 Couldn't remember a single word further🧏♂️ The more I thought, the blanker I got. 😶 So, I left the question for later. ✍️ Finished the rest of the paper. 📝 Still couldn't remember the exact words. 🤷♂️ So, I wrote it in my own words. 🖊️ Came out of the exam hall and... tada!  I remembered the definition completely! 🤦♂️ Recently attended a session by Akshat Shrivastava 📅 He said prep till the last moment in public speaking is a disaster. 🎤 Couldn't agree more! 😅 Prep until the last moment makes your mind go blank. 😬 It makes you so tense that you forget everything. "HOW HOW HOW ??? 🤯 Di, How did you score 83/90 in Paper 6!!" -one of my junior exclaimed . This paper was a rollercoaster of emotions, and I'm still trying to process the bizarre experience. 🎢 To survive this monster, I turned into a seasoned detective, forensic expert, and a librarian all rolled into one! 🕵️♂️ So, after giving a deep thought to the H O W ... or कैसे... ? Here are my survival tips : 👑 Content Page is King: Tear out the content page of your IBS study material and stick it on the cover. Trust me, it's a lifesaver! 📚 Carry Your Arsenal: Don't be afraid to lug around a mountain of books. Every subject is a potential weapon in your IBS battle. Refer the image for more clarity 😁 Don't be hesitant to carry books, as no one wants to regret later. Kaash m le aata... is very hurtful. ⚠️ICAI study material is must to carry⚠️ 📑 Sticky Note Magic: Mark questions you find (a hack no one else will share with you) as it gets easy to locate the book and page when you want to write, remove the sticky note once answered, and stick one on your answer sheet to avoid losing it (seriously, it happened to me 5 minutes before the end!). Phew!! I found it in-between my books. 1️⃣ One-Stop Shop: IBS is an amalgamation of all subjects. Don't waste time studying it separately. You can try to practice questions to check your speed and writing practice. 📝 Word-for-Word Warfare: If you find the exact question, copy it verbatim. No room for creativity here! 🔥 The Dynamic Duo: A big shoutout to Atul Agarwal & Ajay Agarwal Sir's compilation. It's an absolute lifesaver! ⌛ Time is of the Essence: Each question is worth an hour. Choose wisely which four out of five to attempt. Spend those initial 15 minutes strategically. Practical questions can be time-savers, but only attempt them if you're confident. 🙅 Don't Forget the Basics: Amidst the chaos, remember to fill out the OMR sheet for MCQs! A friend of mine learned this the hard way. 💡 Case Study Clarity: Each part of a case study is independent. Don't overthink connections. Focus on solving each part individually. ✔️ Quality Over Quantity: Find the answer first, then write. Focus on content, not presentation. Time is your enemy here. Be alert to questions that might combine elements from different subjects. 📃 Index : While carrying your index is good practice, with sufficient revisions, you'll likely find yourself relying more on memory than the index. If you're facing IBS, remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Somebody should wake me up. I can't believe I brought this upon myself. The time spent to complete a chapter of a project write up usually depends on the chapter one is currently writing, it also depends on the topic itself and the length of time dedicated daily, So far, with consistency and dedication of quality hours, I haven't spent more than a week to write chapter one to three. My favourite chapter to write is chapter two (Literature review) because that is the chapter that gives me a better understanding of the entire work and that's exactly where I start each project work. But there was this project work I got sometimes last year and I was to submit chapter one to three in two weeks according to the client's request, other chapters would come after the field work had been completed, within me, I believed it was a write up I could finish in a weeks because that was the norms, so I scheduled my time to work within the time frame. At exactly one week to submission, I began my search and draft, It was during the search I observed that the topic given had very little information on the internet, the available ones were either with restrictions to download or too shallow to make a review. Hours turned to days, the day of submission gradually drew near, I still haven't been able to come with something reasonable. I was frustrated, I began to have constant headache, in all of these, I kept giving my client hope instead of informing him of the situation on ground. Finally the day of submission I knew what I was about to give this client wasn't worth it yet I still gave him because I felt it's better I did than give excuses. As expected, he was lashed by his supervisor and in return he passed the aggression on me, To show his level of dissatisfaction, he requested for a refund and discouraged his friends who were willing to give their jobs to me. I would have forced myself to wake up if it were a dream, I lost my flow for awhile and I couldn't accept any other work. I was pained and discouraged. Just if I had started earlier, I would have gotten a better option.... what did I learn from this ? Firstly, I learnt not to be too confident when it comes to timing, Time dedicated to a new job shouldn't be based on the previous. I have also worked on ways to access more academic sites by paying for registration and membership, not just that I have tried to connect with others who have more experience and I make sure I reach out to them when the need arises . #mystorymyvoice #21daystorytellingwithDrIsh

Top 3 answer writing mistakes to avoid while giving Dec.24 exams:   1. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡.   Rather, your question solving order should be:   Highly confident - Less confident - Not confident.   First, solve all the parts of all the questions you are highly confident in leaving space for the parts of the questions in which you are less confident or not confident at all (as all the parts of one question are required to be at one place).   Solving questions you know sets you in a flow and also help you solve other questions in a better manner.   2. 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫.    Do not focus on "random quantum".   Focus on "relevant quantum".   Relevant quantum means writing all the points (in case of direct question) or reasons to back what has been asked in the question and the conclusion (in case of case laws).   Take the help of the question to write the specific conclusion.   E.g.   If the question has asked:   "Whether the action taken is tenable or not ?"   You conclusion should be:   Considering the provisions discussed above, the action taken by ........ is tenable/ not tenable.   3. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 "𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 + 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬".   Write what has been asked directly.   No need to setup the context or background.   If they ask:   State the provisions related to promoter contribution?   Your answer should not be:   Who is promoter and promoter contribution.   Your answer should be:   Only provisions of promoter contribution. ……… To help you in revision during last days, I have created a “must see topics” document for: 1) 7 main subjects of CS Professional Old Syllabus and 2) 5 main subjects of CS Professional New Syllabus.
