Thoughts from yesterday (Conference and Windows 365 Link): Day 1 at Gartner's IOCS Conference A well attended session presented on DEX following the keynote featuring DEX. 1-on-1's with attendees were split across 3 categories: 1) DEX strategies 2) VDI/DaaS 3) Digital Workplace Strategies Windows 365 Link https://lnkd.in/eE6E_syH I'm pleased Microsoft has released this capability, their input in EUC markets lifts interest and drives a conversation, in this case with a positive benefit of elevating thinking about low carbon and more secure devices. On inquiry calls clients tell me that they like Windows 365's conceptual architecture, many enterprises are testing and deploying Windows 365 but it remains one component of desktop strategies. Like all desktop thin client computing situations, Windows 365 Link best aligns well to desk-based work, whether the worker is at home or in the office. I anticipate that IT leaders will prioritize security and reduced complexity for support teams when building the business case for adopting Windows 365 Link.   Windows 365 Link is not a docking station, IT leaders will need to evaluate how these devices integrate into shared workspaces where employees might bring their own laptops, alongside those using the Link device. Those managing a mix of virtual desktop technologies, including Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, will need to consider alternative endpoints, as Link exclusively supports Windows 365.   The launch of Microsoft's Surface devices previously spurred a wave of innovation among other device manufacturers. Similarly, Windows 365 Link is expected to ignite advancements in the thin client market, which has seen limited hardware innovation in recent years.
