Honestly I thought I was good at table tennis. Then I played an actual pro who has won 6 US championships. It was an absolute slaughter and he even pulled the "I'm actually not a lefty" stunt before switching to his dominant hand. My reaction was pure laughter. There was something so fun about getting absolutely destroyed by a real professional. When you meet a master at their craft…like a REAL master who has put in the time, it puts everything in perspective. There is always someone better. There is always someone to learn from. There is always something to work towards. It's good to regularly put yourself in those situations. It's good to knock your ego down a few rungs. I wish I could say that Adam Weber was the pro I'm referencing...he wasn't. But Adam and I DID win a doubles championship 6 years ago (and it was the only time I've held one of those big checks) so I had to share the photo. Needless to say, no pros were there 😅

I played in a cruise ship ping pong tourney once, and a man walked in with a mini backpack specifically for his ($400) paddle. Humility was served that day.

We aren’t pros, but we strung together an unforgettable run that only you and I are still talking about 😂

I had a similar experience with cornhole. I was certain I could play with the pros thanks to my backyard dominance, but when finally given the chance to test myself it wasn't even close. Humbling.
