📢 Just came across this alarming news from Norwalk, Conn. 🌿🚔 It's been a long time since I trapped, so I am not sure what’s popular these days but this raises a crucial question: Do you think the cannabis was laced? If so was it intentionally laced with fentanyl, or could it have been residue from using the same scale? 🤔 Either way, this situation underscores the importance of regulatory compliance and safety in the cannabis industry. Ensuring clean and safe products is paramount for consumer trust and health. 🛡️ Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eG3bvznN 🗳️ **Poll: What do you think about this situation?** comment below 👇 1. The cannabis doesn’t contain fentanyl, the cops are gaslighting us. 2. It does but was cross contamination from using the same scale or bagged in The same room. 3. It was intentionally added because the new trend is to use last year’s light deps, sprayed with botanical terps and fentanyl. The results look like old cat poop, aka sprinkle turds. #CannabisSafety #Regulations #CannabisIndustry #PublicHealth #Compliance #CannabisCommunity
Fentanyl, like opium , methamphetamine and a number of other "smokable" drugs cannot be combustible and be affective in delivering the drug. There needs to be a barrier that is heated to release vapor. It's why fiends smoke off foil, or out of a light bulb, stem etc. To put fire directly to that chemical is to simply kill it. So lacing Cannabis with fentanyl with any intention of Increasing a high is simply not plausible (unless it's dry vaped). It's likely an issue of the same scales being used to weigh and package multiple products. If it looks like fear mongering, chances are that's what it is.
I believe it’s cross contamination. And I’m slightly frustrated by folks who dismiss it entirely. Careless with no respect for the plant results in THIS.
When I saw this I thought cross-contamination was the most likely source, but the context in the news reports isn’t given. People read headlines and only one that I’ve seen from the New York Post actually identified the location as unlicensed. Will continue to watch out for these reports and how they are portrayed in the media. My takeaway is simply that complying is caring when it comes to consumer safety!

4moAs a CT native who has been watching the state's enforcement efforts in the news, I suspect this one might be legit. This is the first news story I've seen about unlicensed sales being linked to fentanyl contamination in this context, while at least weekly there are stories regarding similar shut downs due to "regular" unlicensed sales. CT is in general pretty cannabis tolerant compared many states, and I don't think one "ooh they're lacing the weed" story would do much to sway that. While your last point may have been intended as tongue in cheek, as someone who missed 20 years of benefit from cannabis use because I was passed a bowl spiked with pcp in my youth, I know firsthand that for some reason, people insist on messing with perfection. Certainly for reasons beyond my understanding.
