The use of moment marketing (Halloween in this case) adds to the fun. Samsung does a pretty good job of ad-butting Apple. Not only does it poke fun of Apple, it helps to showcase the features of Samsung well. Is spoofing a competitor a sound communication strategy for a brand? In the age of shares and likes, definitely yes!! Such communications do break the clutter and help get across the message well , it creatively helps position a brand as a better product or service. But the challenge is to do this well and, most importantly, in good taste.
