Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for Higher Education Institutions and how it differs from NAAC and NIRF? The decline in the quality of education is concerning. Education should be a center for knowledge incubation, not just a business. It's time to shift our focus to teaching excellence and student development in our institutions. The UK’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) offers a comprehensive model that India can adopt. Unlike NAAC or NIRF, which focus on overall institutional performance, TEF zeroes in on: 🔹 Teaching Quality: How effectively faculty engage and inspire students. 🔹 Learning Environment: The resources and support provided to students to maximize their potential. 🔹 Student Outcomes: Measuring the true impact of education through student success in careers and further studies. By adopting a TEF-like framework, we can ensure that quality teaching and student development are at the heart of our education system, setting us apart from commercialized models. Let’s work together to elevate the standards of Indian higher education and restore it as a true center of knowledge and growth. #HigherEducation #TeachingExcellence #QualityEducation #StudentDevelopment #EducationReform #IndiaEducation #TEF #KnowledgeIncubation #NAAC #NIRF AICTE University Grants Commission (UGC)

Quality of Higher Education is quite questionable in global context and in terms of knowledge imparted. Majority of colleges and universities are incapable of meeting international standards of Higher Education. NAAC accreditation enables an organization to identify it's strength and weakness in order to fill the crucial gap for imparting quality education. This workshop helps a lot to identify the Do's and Don't during NAAC peer team visit and improve the overall performance score of an organization during the entire accreditation process.

NAAC has been the holy grail of quality assurance for India's HEIs. But recently, it’s been marred by seemingly irrelevance of ‘high grades’ when such institutions perform poorly on ranking charts and by discrepancies in assessment processes [1]. This fast tracked the much-needed revamp of NAAC accreditation; particularly the shift from ‘Inputs: Infrastructure and faculty qualifications’ to ‘Outcomes: Student learning and holistic development.’ Read our latest article on the revamped NAAC accreditation to understand the changes introduced by NAAC and how the new model emphasises data collection and analytics. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is set to unveil a new Accreditation system for Colleges and Universities across India in September 2024. This new Binary Accreditation framework will replace the current Grading system, which rates Institutions on a scale from C to A++. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of NAAC’s Executive Committee, introduced this change during a Regional Consultative Workshop held at Utkal University. The shift to a Binary System is part of broader Reforms recommended by the Radhakrishnan Committee, which aims to enhance Educational Quality. The new Framework will categorize Institutions simply as "Accredited" or "Not Accredited," eliminating the Concerns associated with lower Grades under the existing System. Sahasrabudhe highlighted that the Fear of receiving a low Grade has led to a significant number of Institutions, particularly those that are less well-regarded, avoiding the Accreditation Process. Currently, approximately 65% of the 1,200 Universities and 85% of the 50,000 Affiliated Colleges in India do not seek Accreditation. The Goal of NAAC is to encourage every Higher Education Institution to undergo Accreditation, and the Binary System is designed to facilitate this. The new Process will rely on Technology rather than physical Visits by Peer Teams, streamlining the Assessment and reducing the associated Costs. The new Framework will feature 10 Attributes with varying Metrics for Universities, Autonomous Colleges, and Affiliated Colleges, focusing on Quantitative Data Validation to ensure Objectivity. To refine the new System, NAAC has conducted Regional Workshops to gather Feedback from Educational Institutions.
