Historically, the success in relinquishing mines with pit lakes has varied tremendously: there are many well-known examples of legacy sites abandoned with contaminated waters and still requiring rehabilitation or perpetual treatment. Conversely, there are many examples that have achieved relinquishment with various beneficial end uses. In addition to learning key pit lake formation and development processes and how these challenge successful closure outcomes, this workshop is also an ideal forum to network with like-minded professionals from research, regulatory, consulting industry backgrounds that share interests in pit lake closure. #minelakesconsulting #minelakes #pitlakes #mineclosure2024 #mineclosure
Watch this space! Mine lakes is pleased to announce we will be presenting our third Pit Lake Closure Workshop Friday 29 November at the Mine Closure conference at the Westin Hotel, Perth. From our first 2011 workshop in Lake Louise, Canada, the last time the Pit Lakes Workshop was held was in 2019 at Mine Closure Perth, Australia. There 50 attendees crowded the room for an informative and interesting course. As a key contributors to the literature and practice of pit lake closure internationally, we plan a similar interactive workshop, with both pit lake background knowledge, current leading and emerging practice being presented to enable a better understanding of pit lake closure and management planning to a broad range of stakeholders and skills and experiences. More to come as an exciting Mine Closure 2024 nears! #minelakesconsulting #mielakes #pitlakes #mineclosure2024 #mineclosure

Guano Point Tramway Tower Bat Cave Mine, Grand Canyon One of the most dramatic viewpoints of the Grand Canyon is at Guano Point, boasting stunning 360-degree views of the canyon and what’s left of the $3.5 million aerial tramway system that once spanned 7,500 feet built in 1957. As you gaze out across the expansive canyon, let thoughts of the brave souls who attempted to mine nitrogen-rich guano for fertilizer from the guano cave discovered in 1930 fill your mind. For 20 years, these miners rode the aerial tramway to cross the river with a vertical lift of 2,500 feet. In this image we see the remains of Guano Point, so peaceful and full of promise. Imagine a mining ghost town, everything is gone of what was once busy with people, ideas, and energy. Only a this building remains in ruin and you see this reminder. Because it was once so full of life. Yet there is a peaceful energy that comes through the picture still echoing a time that has past. There is something serene about the echoes of sound, silence, structure, ruin, neglect, and echoes of life. www.bobcallender.com #oilfieldphotography #oilandgasindustry #oilfield #oilfieldservices #oilpatch #bobcallender #roughneck #driller #energystrong #permianbasin #pumpjack #pumpingunit #oilindustry #petroleum #westtexas #fineartphotography #officespace

One thing about side dump trailers that gets people thinking they should switch is the versatility of it. From big rocks, a bunch of little rocks, sand, gravel, water, sludge, etc. — if you can get it in that tub, then you can haul and dump it safely, no matter what it is. There’s always something we’ve never heard before that our customers want to haul. With a side dump, you can haul anything. For the more unique situations or products, we design trailers for the customer’s application. This short video shows how Holtrop Excavating takes advantage of their SmithCo: https://lnkd.in/gjXwXXTp
