#TheFutureIsElectric Well, would you look at that. How could this possibly be, you might ask? While vehicle owners moving to EVs does increase the overall demand on the grid, EV owners are charging their vehicles at night when demands on the grid are the lowest. Keep in mind - utilities are local and PUBLIC, unlike your local fossil fuel filling station. So, when your utility infrastructure improves to meet an increased demand for electricity, but a lot of the increased usage happens when rates are the lowest, gains are decoupled. Meaning, at least a portion of the savings due to efficiency must in many cases be returned back to the utility customers in the form of lower rates, rather than almost exclusively being doled out to shareholders and/or executive teams in dividends and bonuses. Translation? The more we adopt #EVs, the cheaper electricity is getting, and the more sense it makes to increase adoption of EVs. The Revolution is here. #TheMoreYouKnow #EVTech #Electrification #EV

We often talk about Vehicle-to-Grid as a one-dimensional tool, charging when demand is low, feeding back when it’s high. But the future is far more dynamic and there’s a growing need to think about smart integration. Imagine EVs across the country charging in sync with fluctuating renewable energy production or discharging at critical moments to offset demand surges, like what we see in pilot programs today. Take school buses, for example. They’re not just vehicles but massive energy reserves with predictable downtime. When optimized, entire fleets can provide real grid support, reducing strain in ways that traditional power plants can't. The challenge now? We need utility companies to improve visibility and track where EVs are plugged in so we can better manage them in real time. At Ideal Power, we're looking beyond traditional V2G to envision EVs that can anticipate grid needs, interact with renewable sources, and even reshape how we think about power distribution.
