Exciting Insights from Our Recent Wave Measurement Deployment! 🌊 Over the past two months, Hydro Survey has been conducting a wave measurement project off the southwest coast of Ireland. Using our state-of-the-art wave measurement sensor, we were able to capture a detailed time series of swell frequencies in the region. The data reveals some fascinating patterns, including significant changes in wave frequencies that we’re excited to explore further. At the height of the deployment, we recorded wave heights reaching up to 4 meters! Not bad for an Irish summer 🏄♂️ Check out the graph below to see the swell frequency time series. These insights are crucial for understanding the dynamic marine environment in this area, and will play an important role in future coastal and marine planning.

Special Wind Zones in Washington and Oregon By Seth Thomas Special Wind Regions (SWR) are defined in ASCE 7-22 Section 26.5.2. as “Mountainous terrain, gorges, and special wind regions shown in Figure 26.5-1.” These regions are identified in ASCE 7 to highlight the lack of data or the high variability of wind speeds in localized areas where the wind data from the surrounding areas may not be adequate to properly capture the hazard. The Irish National Tide Gauge Network (INTGN) is managed by the Marine Research Infrastructures team and serviced by NVM Limited. The purpose is to monitor the water level and the tidal harmonic of the Ireland's coastline, and to provide tidal predictions that are free for public use. Currently, the INTGN consists of 25 + tide gauge monitoring nodes that measure real-time data for actual water level and tide predictions. The main sensor at each node is an OTT Contact Bubbler Sensor with a data logger. Some nodes also measure sea temperature and air pressure parameters. The data is transmitted via telemetry to provide real-time measurements every 5 minutes and is available to view and download at Tidal Observations. The tidal predictions and real time monitoring provide critical information for flood forecasting and for supporting research, coastal engineering, recreation, and navigation activities. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eeMVqixU NVM are the Irish Channel Partner for OTT instrumentation. #environmentalmonitoring
