The extended impact of the Energy Systems Integration Partnership Programme (ESIPP) is resonating in the Next Generation Energy Systems Programme (NexSys). A priori knowledge of flow and load can help formulating better control strategies that can enable demand response in WWTPs. Check out our (Matteo Giberti, Majid Bahramian, PhD, Damian Flynn, Eoin Casey) new paper on benchmarking data-driven models for forecasting sewage flows and pollutant characterization.

🚀💡Pleased to share a new collaborative paper titled "Eco‐friendly approach to thermal energy storage: Assessing the thermal and chemical properties of coconut biochar‐enhanced phase change material," published in the “Energy Storage” Journal. This work, led by Dr Reji Kumar, assessed the thermophysical properties of the phase change materials by dispersing the coconut shell-derived particles for efficient thermal energy storage. This project was collaborative work with international collaborators whose insights and expertise were crucial🔬📘🚀!. Read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/eUJiWeN3

Such an interesting and informative read. Green hydrogen is going to play a very important role in assuring future life on Planet Earth which, as of today, don't look great on a 50 year plus timeframe. I won't be here BUT my kids and their kids hopefully will be in the right circumstances, of course! . .Many claim they have the Holy (green hydrogen) Grail; most of those will fall by the wayside for one reason or another. A few months ago, I had the privelege and pleasure of being invited to take the Chair at Metrol Group Inc, the prime reason for doing so being that my friends who should know, told me that Roy McAlister had what could be the leading/cutting edge technology in the green hydrogen space/race. And it gets even better in that the fully patented McAlister carbon splitter was/is the KEY differentiator from anything out there. This technology can be applied around the world with any Government or private sector which is seeking to offer/deliver the "best of breed" green hydrogen technology. This could be a $100 billion global blockbuster. Please dm me if you would like to know more. We are already in high level discussions in Turkey, Angola, South Africa, China ,the UK and other countries which have identified the opportunity to utilize what Metrol/McAlister have to offer by us becoming their technology partner. The list will grow longer and quickly. As proof of what we have to offer, NASA recently stated that we are 10 years ahead of them in terms of hydrogen research..
𝗔 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 :). Amazing: I read it in one go and even forgot to watch football ⚽ on time(!). Reading "𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗢𝗶𝗹" was purely fun because Thierry Lepercq covers a very broad range of topics and explains energy in a larger context. It fits the #zeitgeist that he talks about "wars" and "battles". This seemed a bit strange to me at first, but after the introductory chapters on oil and gas, a smart assessment of shale oil and gas, the emergence of the solar industry, the digitization of energy and the "internet of energy", power grids, geopolitics and the leapfrogging of green technologies in emerging markets - wonderful views with some nice anecdotes (quite a lot of which were unknown to me). Thierry ends the book on an optimistic note. That's a good thing. Because despite all the realism and analysis in the book, we need a vision and a blueprint for how civil societies can change for the better. We all have to work creatively on the future. Thank you Thierry, for your very kind inscript. I can recommend the book to everyone. Enapter, #greenhydrogen, #energytransition, #energiewende, #digitalenergy, #hydrogen

A new #ExitChoice paper has been published! The shortest path assumption is one of the most commonly used assumptions when setting up an #evacuation scenario. In this study, a laboratory experiment was conducted to assess if and when evacuees choose the shortest path to exit a building or transportation terminal. Here the paper to check what we found out.
