👀 This is an intersting one. Gaming music (both in-game and inspired by the game) is a huge corner of culture - League of Legends’ Spotify artist channel has over 17m monthly listeners (that’s about a third of what Beyoncé gets). 📦Of course, it’s very Nintendo to pack its offering into a dedicated app rt launching and owning a channel on an established streamer. Keep it in-house. ⏰💃🏼Combined with the Alarm, this is another step towards offering branded ambience in people’s lifestyles (also think of Pikmin and Pokemon joining your walks, and Pokemon again tag-teaming your sleep habits). 🕹️I also saw A LOT of sound-centred gaming mechanics and gamified music creation experiences at #Gamescom2024. That‘s especially interesting for cosy gaming, where indie titles coming down the pipeline are gonna unlock another restorative creativity layer.

Building out an ecosystem of apps that allow all types of IP (music/film/tv/gaming) to be remixed and consumed in new ways. First up is the flow between KORUS and ENKOR. KORUS is an interactive remix platform where you can remix songs from iconic and emerging artists. Instantly create and collect your remix --> get issued an onchain license and begin using in new ways. Now you can take your songs in KORUS and get the chance to have them featured as playable levels in ENKOR, a new music rhythm game on Telegram Messenger where there are over 950m monthly users. Resident Evil 1 has one of the most iconic save-room music. Who hasn't spent more time saving the game to listen to the beautiful arpeggiated strings, and the soft lead wailing away with nostalgia? Sometimes I didn't even save the game — I stayed there just to listen. Resident Evil has very little music in it. Most of the time you're hearing the wind, your footsteps, parasite zombie cries, creaking doors, and gunshots. I believe this is why they added such serene, and mysterious music in the save-room: to give you peace in a suspenseful survival game. RE devs knew players would feel many unpleasant emotions. Desperation while trying to solve a puzzle, fear as you escape from zombies, and frustration while you cross the mansion to reach the save-room. This is where the payoff resides; you feel calm and safe from the madness. I think this is what's important about interactive game music. When game devs know the context and the emotions the player will feel, they recognize that the game must have balance. They guide players and immerse them in stories.
