One of my favorite movies is Forrest Gump. And one of my favorite scenes in that movie is when Forrest Gump is sitting at a bus stop on a bench and different characters pass through and he's sharing his story. To one of the characters, he says. My Mama used to say life is a box of chocolates. You never really know what you're going to get. My mom always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. I like to use this analogy in the context of voluntary transitions. The new opportunity that you want is the box of chocolates, but you never really know what you're going to get. I like to refine Mamma Forrest wise words though, and say that you can and you should design some of the chocolate pieces in the box now.
