Going through older footage, forgive me but some of this footage needs to see the light of day somewhere. Turns out, no one is arguing how beautiful the PNW is. Things you learn from week long, dawn to dusk shoots: 1. Always bring tons of power/media. With docu-style filming, it's hard to anticipate everything that goes in the final edit, so roll on what your heart tells you, anticipate reactions before they happen. This means you might be rolling on a lot of random stuff. 2. DIT as a separate role: This helps so much with long days obviously. If you're one man banding the production, shooting all day, then staying up 'til 2am to dock footage and getting up at 5am for sunrise ain't gonna fly for 7 days straight. 3. Pocket beef jerky: Always carry beef jerky with you, you never how far the hike actually will be. Especially if Colton Jacobs is on set. 4. Buy the durable, reliable, simply things. Why spend $15 on XLR or SDI cables when you could spend $20 more and get durability and function. Nothing sucks more than a cheap part failing the $45k setup you're filming on. Don't risk that. Recently, I faced the challenge of creating a video inspired by a New York Times article about travel bags, which highlights the importance of traveling light and more consciously, using techniques to make it go viral. The video starts with a striking statement, that is, an immediate approach that captures the viewer's attention, creating curiosity and prompting them to watch until the end. Using an engaging soundtrack combined with editing techniques that make the video more dynamic and well-timed—such as jump cuts and impactful close-ups—the message is conveyed effectively. The narrative flows throughout the video, emphasizing the concept that "less is more"—a well-packed bag doesn't need to be bulky but should contain everything we truly need. The video also raises an important reflection: "Live in the now." Often, we get lost in screens and headphones, forgetting that the true essence of travel lies in the experiences and interactions we create. The final message reinforces that the best trips are those where we take only the essentials. After all, the goal is to explore the world in a practical and efficient way. This storytelling approach, combined with strategic editing, enhances the potential for the content to go viral. By focusing on what truly matters—the experience of traveling—it is possible to touch the hearts and minds of viewers, inspiring them to rethink their way of traveling. #Travel #Storytelling #Creativity #DigitalMarketing #Innovation #socialmedia

Perfect Practice Yields Perfect Results... Eventually! I have a son who is an exceptionally talented professional photographer. What sets him apart isn’t just his natural ability, but his relentless commitment to improving his craft. Despite already capturing breathtaking images of people and places around the world, he continually seeks ways to refine his skills and elevate his work. What fascinates me most is how he approaches his craft. When we hike or travel together, I might take a few dozen photos, carefully waiting for that "perfect moment." But he takes hundreds—each with small variations in composition, lighting, or angle. Why? Because he understands that the "perfect photo" isn’t the result of luck or one-off inspiration—it’s the result of intentional, consistent practice. He knows that mastery is built over time, one thoughtful adjustment at a time. This principle extends far beyond photography. If regular, focused practice isn’t a part of your team’s daily routine, you’re missing a powerful opportunity. The habits your team builds today—their approach to customer service, problem-solving, or even internal collaboration—are what will set your company apart from the competition tomorrow. Just like my son’s photography, excellence in business doesn’t come from a single big moment; it’s the accumulation of small, deliberate improvements over time. So ask yourself: Is your team practicing with purpose every day? Are you refining the details that will one day result in “perfect” customer experiences? Because while perfection may never truly arrive, the process of striving for it will make your company stand out in ways your competitors can’t replicate. https://lnkd.in/geQdgizG

Forget first-class flights, these globetrotters navigate by flippers! 🐢 🤯 Did you know that green sea turtles have seen more of the world than most humans, clocking up epic journeys between over 140 coastal countries? They'd swim from Canberra to Alice Springs for lunch and barely break a sweat (well, maybe a flipper beat). Talk about wanderlust! ✈️ #turtlesofinstagram #greensea #epicjourneys #greenseaturtle #greenseaturtles #birdseyemedia #professionalvideography #videography #epiccontent #visualcontent

How Travel Has Shaped Our Creative Approach Our work at The Production Dept. has taken us far and wide, from the familiar landscapes of the UK to countries across the globe. Every place we’ve visited has left its mark, shaping how we think and work creatively. Travel opens your eyes to different ways of seeing the world and telling stories, and that’s something we bring into every project we take on. From corporate campaigns to creative content for global brands, the experiences we’ve gained on the road help us see things from a fresh perspective. We know how to keep things running smoothly, whether we’re working with local teams or handling the logistics in an unfamiliar place. It’s about being organised, adapting to challenges, and making sure we get the right shot, no matter where we are. At the heart of it, we believe that our travels give us something extra when it comes to telling stories – a connection with people, places, and experiences that really shows in our work. And that’s something we’re proud to bring to every project. #GlobalPerspective #TravelAndCreativity #CreativeStorytelling #CorporateContent #ProductionManagement
