Just two more board members to meet! Today, we're meeting Patrick Farrell, Area Director of Revenue Management & E-Commerce at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Winging it or planning it? Planning beforehand but with plenty of spare time to wing it. Love being able to have the flexibility of knowing the key things I want to do, or restaurants to dine at, while still being able to call an audible and completely change directions. That said, I usually have a couple different ideas of things to do, so even my winging it is likely semi-planned… Traveling alone or with others? Traveling is the best with my wife, and we’ve been starting to take our two kids with us places now too – an experience for sure! Mountains or beach? Both…Nothing beats a beach with solid food and drink service though. Suitcase or backpack? Suitcase. Hidden gems or tourist spots? Speed past the tourist spots and spend the bulk of my time exploring local spots. Love a foreign grocery store. Hotel or Airbnb? Hotel every time. Relax or adventure? I like to blend a little bit of both, but exploring and adventure is primarily what I’m looking for, with a relaxing day or two in the middle. Pack light or over pack? I’ve learned to pack light over the past few years and will never go back. Favorite Chicago restaurant? Alinea – the Gallery is still such an amazing experience. Favorite thing to do in Chicago? Spending time in all the various neighborhoods, exploring new places to drink and dine. I love that Chicago has an endless amount of cuisines to offer - new places always popping up, and timeless classics. Favorite part of working in hospitality? The people of course! Getting to travel and help others have memorable experiences.
