The HR Tech space was valued at $32.58 billion in 2021 and is estimated to reach $76.5 billion by 2031. I have been working in this space for 7 years and have loved seeing what trends dictate the future of this space. My current role as a PMM for Market and Competitive Intelligence is all about numbers and storytelling so here are a few insights I found from the 2024 G2 report on the top 50 HR Software: 1️⃣ The HRIS category is getting crowded and competitive. 46% of the software in this list serves as the main database for employee information. 2️⃣ 30% of platforms listed are payroll solutions or have payroll capabilities. 3️⃣ The global employment related platforms represent 12% of the list but are still divided into 3 different categories (GEP, Multi-country payroll, EOR) reflecting the ongoing evolution of this space in recent years. 4️⃣ All products in this list are present in more than one HR software category in G2. When we look at the top categories present: HRIS, payroll and global employment, and ATS, 37 out of 50 products are listed in two or more out of these four categories in G2. Consolidation is an ongoing trend in this very competitive space. Based on these numbers would you say consolidation is necessary to compete? Or will it hurt players’s ability to differentiate in a crowded space leading to customers placing their bets on deep integrations between niche software instead? (Part 1)
