We are so happy to announce that Dhanpuri Public School has been selected for the Feeding India Program! This incredible initiative will provide daily meals to our students, ensuring that no child goes hungry and every student has the energy and focus to learn and grow. At WES, we’ve seen firsthand how food insecurity affects attendance, learning outcomes, and the overall well-being of our students. Stories like that of Vidya Kol, a determined Class 5 student, highlight the critical role nutrition plays in enabling children to stay in school and succeed. For children like her, this meal program is not just about food; it’s a lifeline to education and a brighter future. With Feeding India’s support, we envision significant changes in: 🍽️ Nutrition – Ensuring students receive the essential nourishment they need to grow strong and healthy. 📚 Learning Outcomes – Enhancing focus and retention, allowing our students to thrive academically. 🎓 Attendance – Reducing absenteeism as students and families no longer worry about managing meals. 🌟 Holistic Development – Creating a supportive environment where every child can explore, learn, and reach their potential. This is more than just a meal program—it’s a transformative step toward the complete learning and education journey of our students. A heartfelt thank you to the Feeding India team for believing in our mission and helping us take another step toward making quality education truly accessible. We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership and its potential to impact hundreds of young lives. Together, we are building a brighter future for the children of Dhanpuri. Sita (name changed), a young girl from the suburbs of Raichur, Karnataka, always dreamt of a brighter future. But her dreams were often shadowed by a simple yet significant challenge: the lack of basic washroom facilities at her school. While her home had a functional washroom—a rarity in many rural households—it was her school environment that posed a hurdle. Attending school meant facing the discomfort and inconvenience of going without access to safe sanitation. This took a toll on her confidence, her attendance, and her ability to focus in class. The turning point came with Sambhav Foundation’s WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiative. The project brought much-needed washroom facilities to her school campus, creating a safe and dignified space for students like Sita. With this simple yet transformative intervention, Sita’s life took a new direction. Now, Sita no longer worries about stepping out of the premises during school hours or missing classes due to the lack of sanitation. Her attendance improved significantly, and she could finally focus on her studies without distractions. For Sita, the presence of a school washroom wasn’t just about convenience—it was about reclaiming her education and dignity. Sita’s story highlights a harsh reality faced by countless girls in rural India. The absence of proper sanitation often forces them to drop out of school, especially as they grow older. WASH interventions not only improve hygiene and health but also empower girls to pursue uninterrupted education, bridging the gender gap in learning and ensuring their right to a better future. Access to sanitation is not a privilege—it’s a necessity. When schools are equipped with proper WASH facilities, they foster an environment where every child, especially girls, can thrive. Let’s work together to break barriers and create a future where no child has to choose between dignity and education. #GirlsEducation #WASHProject #SanitationForAll #EmpowerHer #EducationForAll #BridgingTheGap #DignityInEducation #RuralDevelopment #EqualityInEducation #HygieneMatters #BreakingBarriers #SustainableDevelopment #FutureIsFemale #EducationMatters #sambhavfoundation

40% of the children under age 5 are stunted. (They have low height for their age) The Government of Punjab has launched a School Meal Programme in 3 Districts of Punjab namely Muzafargarh, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Approximately, 450,000 students enrolled in primary schools will receive a daily serving of 175 ML milk in the first phase. While similar initiatives were taken by the previous governments, more needs to be done, and that too quickly to protect our children. Such initiatives if sustained over time, can ✅improve the well-being of our children ✅improve their academic performance ✅improve enrollments in our schools Thoughts?

Learnings Pt.2: Schools in the mountains In Uttarkhand, the dwindling school populations in remote areas are a growing concern. With schools struggling to maintain a minimum of 10 students, the impact of economic pressures on families is evident. As per an in-depth discussion with a grassroot organization, the need for regular cash income for basic necessities like mobile recharges and school fees has disrupted the traditional fabric of village life, which is eventually forcing people to migrate to cities for employment. This shift has led to the erosion of a cohesive school culture, a vital element typically found in larger schools. Moreover, the benefits that government schools offer, such as free education and mid-day meals, are limited to a select few due to declining enrollments. Consequently, teachers face challenges in maintaining their motivation while catering to shrinking class sizes. #Education #Uttarkhand #SchoolCulture #GovernmentSchools #Teachers #LearningImpacts
