How often do we step into candid vulnerability as a leader, to share the real truth about our experiences and the journey to becoming who we are today? We often shy away from this level of honesty for fear of looking weak, judged and a disappointment - perhaps even feeling we'll be viewed as less competent, less in control... revealing to the world that most of us have a sense of "not being good enough". To admit that in a leadership capacity, for many, seems counterproductive. However, I think a candid approach, based on honesty, good intentions and vulnerability are some of the top attributes we need in leaders today. This creates heartfelt and soulful connections, empathy, compassion and psychological safety.
