When I see promo videos from various Li-ion manufacturers I always see crystal clean surfaces and professional equipment. But when I train my own teams I always try co convince my people to build the lab equipment themselves. This may look ridicules, but during my work in this industry I found that the sophistication of the machines intimidates engineers. "I would have never build such a marvel of technology" - they think. So the logical consequence is that they perceive the equipment as perfect. But no machine in the world is perfect, and there are many flaws hiding behind shiny facade. That is the reason why its better to make an effort to build and program the lab equipment yourself. Only then you realize how important tension control is, how easy is to break the web if the mandrel acceleration is not optimized, and how important alignment of the rollers are, you realize why the industrial machines have their unwinders driven by motors and what is the role of a buffer. After such an exercise the procurement, design freeze and commissioning of the professional equipment is a completely different story. And don't hesitate to use paper for trials - if you master winding of the paper, then electrodes will be a piece of cake! Thank you my technical trainees: Emilia Baczyńska Piotr Biszcz Kamil Baczyński Krzysztof Baczynski I am proud of you! #battery #technology #manufacturing

🎓 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝! 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐋 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞: 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠) 🎓 I’m excited to share that I’ve completed the Materials Processing (Casting, Forming, and Welding) course through NPTEL, achieving a score of 71%! 📊 This course has been a transformative learning experience, especially in understanding the science behind how materials are created, shaped, and bonded. Here are some key highlights: 🔹 𝐈𝐫𝐨𝐧-𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 & 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 – I gained insights into the fundamental processes of material creation, focusing on the iron-carbon diagram and phase transformations. Understanding the phases—like austenite, ferrite, and cementite—and how they influence material properties has given me a strong foundation in materials science, which is critical for designing stronger, more durable components. 🔹 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬 – Explored casting processes that enable the creation of complex shapes with precise control over material properties. Learning about solidification and mold design gave me a practical understanding of casting defects and quality control. 🔹 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 – Gained hands-on knowledge of shaping materials through forming techniques like rolling, forging, and extrusion. I learned how deformation mechanisms impact grain structure and mechanical properties, an essential insight for enhancing strength and performance. 🔹 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 – I dove into welding techniques, including both traditional and advanced methods like Cold Metal Transfer (CMT), which is directly applicable to my current project on corrosion-resistant stainless steel. This knowledge has helped me understand the intricate balance of heat, pressure, and material compatibility in welding. This course has enriched my technical toolkit and strengthened my expertise in material processing, allowing me to better analyze and optimize processes in both academic projects and industrial applications. I’m looking forward to applying these insights in my ongoing and future projects in mechanical engineering and materials science! 🚀 #Manufacturing #MaterialsScience #Engineering #NPTEL #ContinuousLearning #MechanicalEngineering #Casting #Forming #Welding #CareerGrowth
