"One thing is certain: if we spend the summer debating climate science we will get all hot and bothered and end up back where we started. If we instead shift focus to the lack of fairness in the current system we might find something we agree on that could really spark a power transition." Peter Lewis, convener for Per Capita's Centre of the Public Square, writes in his latest op-ed for the Guardian Australia. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/g-48ADmF

Many cities are facing several disruptions. With already so stressed resources imagine, having the 60% of world population in 2030 living in cities and 70% by 2050 according to the UN data. Local growth, local infrastructure and decentralised systems are way for future resilience building. Focus on cities for climate action is crucial!
Next month, mayors will join global leaders, residents, businesses, youth, and advocates at #ClimateWeekNYC. Together they will showcase that cities are leading the way on bold climate initiatives and that the time to act is now. #UnitedInAction Climate Group

Thrilled to join today’s The Washington Post Climate Summit. We must cut through the clutter to elevate the #climatecrisis with an urgency that matches the science, and events like this led by respected media outlets can play a huge role. Great to hear from John Podesta, Gov. Wes Moore & others about America’s huge progress on climate solutions, including our massive, world-leading investments in every aspect of delivering #Forests4Climate. Special thanks to Governor Moore for lifting up Maryland's leadership to plant #TreeEquity 🌳 in cities as a central piece of the State's climate action and climate justice efforts. We urgently need the climate-safe cooling and clean air from trees in every neighborhood. When it comes to #climatejustice, do you think the focus should be shifted even further towards collective action? 💬 Georg Blokus, educator and Berlin Hub director at European Alternatives, emphasizes the lasting importance of collective action in addressing climate issues, as it enables communities to pool resources, share knowledge, and advocate for #systemicchange on a larger scale. During the 2023 Allianz Foundation Summit, Blokus shared insights from his experience in the field. 📢 Demilitarise for climate justice! Our research shows that militaries around the world produce at least 5.5% of global emissions. If global militaries were a country, they’d be the 4th largest emitter! With this year’s Global Week of Action for Peace and Climate Justice well underway, there are still plenty of ways to get involved and campaign for change. climatemilitarism.org #GWAPCJ #Demilitarize4ClimateJustice #militaryemissions #climatechange #climatejustice

If we can convince the world into believing the truth, that all living organisms and ecosystems are as mindful, purposeful, and powerful, as ourselves, then we can use the power of persuasion to make change. If only even the majority understood the importance and delicacy of Mother Nature we can start the necessary shifts towards living regeneratively. Instead of making people more aware of how the impacts of choices alter our planets mysterious ways, we should teach the magic of life and win thier attention. We might be able to gain more appreciation for nature, instead of shame and guilt for wrong doings. Which only turns people further away from living sustainably. People just want to believe that it is unrealistic that our planet naturally has to everything we need, and can offer it to us, free of cost, because it’s almost to simplistic. However, the reality is that our planet absolutely can and will if we just let it do it’s thing without intervening. This is where hearts are touched, and positive change begins! Can you spend
