𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝗿𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗳𝗗 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁! This spring, Romania took a monumental step forward in its energy journey. After more than three years of anticipation, the Contracts for Difference (CfD) support framework was published, heralding a new era for sustainable energy technologies in our country! ⚡ 🔎 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲: Since the robust Law 220/2008, which positioned Romania as a global leader in renewable energy, our energy sector has evolved significantly. With 3,000 MW in wind and 1,300 MW in solar developed by 2013, we once led the world in sustainable energy capacities. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱: Post-2013, new energy projects stalled, largely due to policy changes and economic pressures, leaving a gap in our energy infrastructure. High natural gas prices and geopolitical tensions further escalated energy costs. 𝗖𝗳𝗗 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵: The new CfD framework, published in April 2024, aims to support technologies that reduce carbon emissions, including wind, solar, hydro, nuclear, and hydrogen. This initiative is crucial for revitalizing our energy sector, targeting 24,300 MW for RES by 2035. "Numerous” companies from Australia, Europe & North America have expressed interest to develop hydrogen sources in the Philippines for power generation, according to the Department of Energy (DOE)🇵🇭. The DOE issued new policy as it considers hydrogen as another viable alternative and cleaner energy source & aims to increase the use of renewables nationwide to meet its future requirements. Under the policy, hydrogen energy projects with the primary purpose of producing, importing & exporting green hydrogen are eligible to avail of income tax incentives. These include income tax holiday, special tax rates, net operating loss carry-over, tax exemption of carbon credits, zero percent value added tax rate and exemption from duties on renewable energy machinery, equipment and materials. The DOE has offered two (2) areas for hydrogen exploration, one is in Zambales and the other is at the western portion of Central Luzon, Philippines🇵🇭. Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) also eyes new 2,400 megawatts (SMR's) Small Modular Reactors by 2032. SMR's or advanced nuclear reactors offer a capacity of up to 300 megawatts/unit. Philippine-based Energy firms like the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) and the Aboitiz Group, are exploring nuclear energy partnerships with several US-based firms to introduce this advance technology in the Philippines🇵🇭. The Philippines energy-mix is projected to increase from 35% percent in year 2030 to 50% percentl by year 2040, which now includes about 2,400MW of nuclear small modularn reactors and green hydrogen energy, which will complete the Philippine 🇵🇭 Energy Master plan of circular RWE economy. #PartnerInthePhilippines #PhilippineEconomy #Philippines2024 #Philippines #Switzerland #SwissChamPhilippines #WorkingTogetherToStrengthenEconomies https://lnkd.in/gjA47NDP

"Texas’s decision in 2023 to procure firm capacity resources through an outside-the-market subsidy mechanism appears typical rather than anomalous. Electric power systems in all three locations (Germany, China, Texas) sit at the leading edge of variable renewable energy penetration rates. And in all three, the procurement of firm dispatchable capacity necessary to preserve security of supply is financially unviable without new policy intervention. https://lnkd.in/gMW3n8pn

🌍 The Uruguay Way: Achieving Energy Sovereignty in the Developing World 🌱 Uruguay has become a global leader in energy sovereignty, generating 98% of its electricity from renewable sources like wind, solar, and biomass. Spearheaded by Ramón Mendéz Galain, the country’s transition to sustainable energy focused on creating affordable, clean power while steering clear of nuclear energy. 🌞🌬️ The key to Uruguay’s success? UTE, the state-owned energy utility, played a pivotal role by issuing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to attract private investment. This strategy not only helped diversify the energy mix but also created 50,000 jobs, significantly reducing the nation’s carbon footprint. 🌱 While Uruguay’s success offers a powerful model for developing nations, the country’s unique geography and strong political consensus were crucial to making the transition possible. Uruguay’s commitment to clean energy and sustainability is a beacon for countries looking to follow a similar path toward energy independence. ⚡ #Alberta #Calgary #Edmonton #yyc #yeg #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #WindPower #EnergySovereignty #CarbonFootprint #ClimateAction #Uruguay #EnergyTransition #DevelopingWorld #EnergyFuture #GreenEnergy #PowerPurchaseAgreements #CleanTech Read more: https://lnkd.in/gzeDQBgk.

GERMANY APPROVES HYDROGEN CORE NETWORK PROJECT Germany's Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has approved a major hydrogen network project costing €18.9 billion. The project will create 9,040 kilometres of hydrogen transport lines by 2032, with 60% of the lines converted from existing gas pipelines and 40% newly built. The first conversions are set to start in 2025. The network aims to connect hydrogen production areas across Germany and link with neighbouring countries. In June 2024, the European Commission also approved a €3 billion aid plan to support this project. To meet its growing hydrogen needs, Germany has developed an import strategy, expecting to import up to 70% of its hydrogen by 2030. Additionally, the country plans to build 8.8 GW of hydrogen production capacity by 2035. ⚡ Follow MPS (Modern Power Systems) for all the latest news daily from the global power generation industry ⚡ #MPS #power #hydrogen #sustainableenergy #energytransition
