My understanding after reading 87 pages of NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce Advice. Here is my Summary: 1. Taskforce have given principles of advice on: 1.1 Choice & Control as participants are paramount when managing their supports, 1.2. Visibility of operational Providers 1.3. Strengthening of regulation 1.4. Pricing must remain priority 1.5. Mandatory Registration - 2. Defining Provider based on risk-proportionate model. Higher the risk, in depth registration applies. - Advanced Registration, - General Registration, - Self-directed support Registration, and - Basic registration. a. Advanced registration for high-risks support such as BSP, SDA, Plan management, Support Coordination, Early childhood supports and therapies including group homes, and SIL homes. b. General Registration for medium-risks and supports such as bowel care, or injections. c. Self-directed Support Registration (SDS) is for participants themself. Once they registered, they have choice and control to who to use for supports. They can use unregistered providers or sole traders. d. Basic Registration will be fore lower-risk supports and include sole traders. The supports includes community participation and limited 1:1 contact with participants for other supports. e. There are 5th type of provider but these Provider may not choose to register as they only sell goods and services to the participants such as ramp from hardware store. 3. All providers of Supported Independent living (SIL) and Home and Living supports should be requiring registration as a matter of urgency (within 12 months) under the existing registration framework and should not wait for new arrangements to be developed. In future registration scheme, SIL and Home and Living should be required to have " Advanced Registration." 4. Platform providers must be registered. They must be registered as would provide the supports services. Platform providers would be seen as physical providers too. 5. Sole Provider will have light touch registration as of Basic Registration. but if they want to undertake High/Medium-risk supports, they must themself go after Advanced or General Registration. 6. Performance Measurement is introduced to incentivise improvements by Providers and drive greater competition on quality. 7. Worker Screening is Mandatory for all employees of Advanced and General Registration. 8. Provider obligations for registration include; code of Conduct, Worker Screening, Complaints, Incident reporting, Practice Standards, Regular Check-Ins with the NDIS Commission (SDS Registration only), Performance Measurement. 9. Transition to Fully Electronic Payment systems to improve the visibility of payments. 10. Unannounced visit to SIL or Group homes. 11. Minimum training and Qualifications requirements for Worker. & Registered Workers be required to undertake 10 hours per year of ongoing professional development.

If you're an NDIS participant or carer, tell me whether this sounds familiar? 👇 You often find yourself questioning if you're truly getting the most out of your plan. (Or you’re worried there might be opportunities slipping through the cracks.) You’re not alone. This is something I hear from clients all the time. So, let’s break it down and go through a few tips and strategies to help you get the most out of your NDIS funding. 1️⃣ Start by understanding your plan. It’s essential to fully grasp what’s included in your NDIS plan. Familiarise yourself with the different funding categories and know exactly what supports they cover. This allows you to allocate your funds efficiently, ensuring nothing goes unused. 2️⃣ If you’re not already working with a Plan Manager, it’s worth considering. Plan managers help you navigate your budget, pay providers, and keep track of your spending. They’re there to ensure you’re using your funding as efficiently as possible without dealing with the stress of managing the finances yourself. 3️⃣ One of the great things about NDIS funding is its flexibility. You can work with both registered and non-registered providers, allowing you to shop around for the best services. Also, don’t hesitate to negotiate better rates – this flexibility helps you stretch your funds further. 4️⃣ Ensure the bulk of your funds go towards supports that are crucial in helping you or your loved one achieve the goals you're after. It can be tempting to spend on things that aren’t truly necessary, but by focusing on what’s essential, you’ll make sure your plan remains effective in the long run. 5️⃣ Even though NDIS plans are reviewed annually, you should start thinking long-term from day one. Consider what supports you’ll need in the future and how your current plan can evolve to meet those needs. Being proactive now will prevent the stress of last-minute adjustments later. 6️⃣ Good record-keeping is a must. Keep track of invoices, receipts, and any documentation related to your spending. This not only helps you stay compliant with NDIS requirements but also gives you a clear picture of where your funds are going. 7️⃣ Navigating NDIS funding can be overwhelming, especially if you’ve got other responsibilities. So don’t be afraid to ask for help! Whether it’s from a Plan Manager, Support Coordinator, or a financial professional, getting expert advice can make a world of difference. Your NDIS funding is there to help you or your loved one achieve the goals you're after. With the right strategies, you can make sure it’s working as hard as you are. And if you have any questions or need guidance, I’m always here to help. 🤓 Feel free to reach out and let’s chat. #NDIS #NDISparticipants #NDISfunding #NDISplanmanagement #MayAndTayConsulting
