🌟𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 & 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺💪 My first reaction to ALDI's move challenge this year? "I'll pass!" 🙅♂️ But hey, it was this kind of decision just because there is this and that to do anyway.. We have loved getting to know this business in more depth and identifying what contributes to high performance within their frontline teams. Ever wondered what it looks like when ALDI SÜD kicks off a Move Challenge?🚶♀️ In addition to my little happy dance (of course in my ALDImania shirt), I’d like to share some insights into the challenge. The Move Challenge started on September 1st and will run 3 months. The goal? To collect as many steps as possible as a team. To participate, you need to form a team of at least four colleagues. Our team is called "Holy Walkamolies" and I’m happy to have Radha Mehta, Jonas Dreifeld and Marc Joest in my team. A total of 84 teams from ALDI SÜD are participating, and everything is tracked through the Changers Fit app. You can see which team is in the lead and even where you personally rank. 🏅 So, what’s in it for me personally, and how does it benefit our work? We all know the feeling—sitting in meetings all day, and by the evening, it's tough to find the motivation to move. This challenge motivates you to take some meetings while walking on a walking pad, strolling around your apartment, or going for an extra walk after work. And does ALDI benefit from this as well? I’d say yes. It strengthens team spirit and helps us do something good for our bodies. Today, I went for an evening walk with two colleagues at Kemnader See. Will I manage to increase my average step count? I’ll share my final thoughts at the end of the challenge. Special shoutout to my teammate, Jonas Dreifeld, who’s already walked over 40km in just three days! 👏 To my colleagues, what's your team name? That’s what todays episode of “A life with ALDI” is all about. 💻 Daniel Laag, Business Projects Lead, knows this challenge of keeping it all aligned. Therefore, it suits him and his stage of life, that he is able to save valuable time at our ALDI Campus in Essen: “Working at our Campus is like going to a One-Stop-Shop, because it is a place, where I can combine multiple things. I work, eat healthy and delicious meals at the restaurant and workout in the fitness centre after I’m done for the day. This saves me a lot of time, so I can spend as much free time as possible with my family and my friends. Earlier in October, me and a bunch of our wonderful Sainsbury's colleagues attended D&I in Grocery Live, run by GroceryAid. As a headline partner for the event, it was amazing to represent Sainsbury's, share our successes and hear about what others are doing to continue championing the DE&I agenda.   It was an inspirational day - my personal highlight was Mary Portas and her vision for an inclusive retail sector that puts people at the heart of our business - our colleagues, our customers, and all the people in our supply chain who make or grow the products we sell (very close to my heart!)   A few of my (many) takeaways: ⭐ Diverse and inclusive businesses are successful businesses. By championing DE&I in your business, you are directly affecting performance and commercial viability. ⭐ DE&I should be everyone's responsibility, not the DE&I team or the senior leaders. Everyone. ⭐ We need to tackle the difficult problems head on. Go right to the heart of the problems, change will follow. ⭐ Women's confidence is critical to our success.
