When defining success, one of the most challenging things in life is being honest with yourself. How do you define success? Is it our job? Most people change jobs many times in life. That can't be the lone standard. Is it wealth? Even wealthy people often want more? Thus people are never satisfied. Is it accomplishments? There are always new things to try, or there should be. The answer to whether you're a success in life is whether you can be honest with yourself about all things, including your conduct with others. If you can do that, you are an absolute success. But the process never ends. Honesty leads to truth, and truth leads to goodness. But if you think you're being honest when you're not, there's work to do to become a successful person. Honesty determines the success of dealings in everything, be it our religion, politics, culture, society, family, friends, or enemies. If you choose dishonest people as role models or leaders, you are deceiving yourself and others. You may think you're doing the right thing because others follow them, but dishonesty has a long history of attracting followers to false forms of power and authority. From the Serpent in Genesis to the religious authorities confronting Jesus, and from Satan in the Wilderness to the Christian Church with its legalistic traditions and attempts to control others, dishonesty in theology and politics (particularly in combination) leads to bad things.
