Yesterday we had 20 people on a call chatting about the friction points that stop so many people from giving... Heres what I found out. The #1 thing that stops people from giving is... Money Heres the thing everyone needs to understand. Money is just one avenue to give. The 3 most common ways to give are: MONEY TIME RESOURCES My good friend Rebecca Psigoda runs a youth empowerment program where she donates her resources to non-profits that can benefit from her program. I'd argue that she gets more happiness from that, then she would writing a check... We put SO much pressure on ourselves to make giving about a dollar amount, but I actually think the biggest thing that stops people, is our ability to prioritize it. I think we use money as an excuse because it's an easy out. "If I had more money, I'd be the biggest philanthropist" ...How you do one thing is how you do everything. If you want to do more good and make more impact, maybe you should start finding a way to give, even if you don't have money... So I want to encourage you today to find a way for you to GIVE that is more about the ACT of giving, than the AMOUNT of giving. Go volunteer at a shelter, go give away some free product to people in need, go coach someone for 3 months for free as an act of kindness. Heck, go sit with a homeless person and ask how their day is... And lets try and get away from the fact we need more money to do more good, and actually just focus on prioritizing the act of giving. *Photo is a sample size from a survey where I asked the question "What would make giving easier for you?" .. Really interesting to see that money is the biggest restriction from people doing the thing that fills their heart up!
