Hodyl & Co’s Post

We recently had the pleasure of attending Geelong Society of the Operatic and Dramatic Arts' performance of Little Mermaid. For close to a century, GSODA has nurtured young performers and a multi-generational community of volunteers. In 2022, this esteemed company lost its home, posing a significant threat to its continued sustainability and impeding its ability to pursue grants and external investment. Hodyl & Co have been working alongside Sibling Architecture to deliver a feasibility study that will act as a key advocacy piece in securing a new home for GSODA in Geelong. By 2041, there will be over 100,000 young people living in Greater Geelong. We need to balance the scale of positive investment in sports and recreation with investment in the arts. With ambitions to be a thriving cultural centre, creating welcoming, safe and joyful pathways for young people to experience the arts will be essential.
