"Your insights have been my highlight from the last few days" San Francisco was definitely a success. It's not usually my favourite place in the world, but this trip really reshaped my view. I went over for RevenueCat's App Growth Annual (thank you for having me over 💗) and damn. It was like London Fashion Week with the who's who of tech legends: on my first morning, I came down from my hotel room to see Thomas Petit chilling out with a coffee. App Growth Annual was a game-changing event (and I'm not using ChatGPT to write that). The venue was unbelievably beautiful, the giveaways were so cute, and I even got a personalised water bottle. Whilst there, I ran a workshop on activation, where we broke down exactly what *is* activation, and how to win back customers (spoilers: winning back starts at the top of the funnel). Some of my key takeaways: 🤯 Optimise your onboarding flow to reduce barriers for new users. Front-load positive user experiences and back-load anything that may create friction, such as registration. This helps increase the chances of users sticking with the app. 🤯 Generative AI is disrupting the online education industry. With tools like ChatGPT providing "good enough" answers at low costs, there’s increased pressure on educational apps to add unique value beyond just providing information. 🤯 Involuntary churn often contributes 20-40% of overall churn volume. Implement strategies to minimise involuntary churn, such as retrying failed payments, supporting alternative payment methods, and sending proactive reminders of upcoming renewals. 🤯 Experiment with different subscription lengths and tiers. Offering only one monthly plan can limit potential revenue. By introducing multiple subscription options (e.g., annual, weekly), you can cater to diverse preferences and maximise both average revenue per user and total conversions. https://lnkd.in/eH2xQnNF Thank you to these literal icons for spending time with me: David Barnard, Hendrik Haandrikman, Phil Carter, Steve P. Felt like an amazing team offsite with half of the app growth world
And with generative AI disrupting industries left and right, it's interesting to see how educational apps need to evolve beyond just providing information. The challenge now is to add real, unique value that AI alone can’t deliver. Hannah Parvaz
Hannah Parvaz Love this post! 🙌 It’s always refreshing when a trip surprises you in a good way!
Congrats Hannah 😍 looks like a time well spent, jealous of hanging out in SF!
So much fun chatting all things mobile growth with you Hannah Parvaz! Hoping you’ll be back in SF soon!
If you’re throwing barriers at new users right from the start, you’re basically asking them to bounce. Front-loading the good stuff and making it seamless is key to keeping users around. 👍
So great to see you in person again. And thank you for presenting at App Growth Annual! Lots of great feedback on your session specifically, but the top feedback overall was that attendees wanted to go to ALL the workshops. Which is a great testament to the work you and others are doing in the community sharing insights and tactics.
Sounds like it was a successful trip 😁 Loved your takeaway about onboarding flows... spot on, Hannah!
