Six years ago, I was honored to be selected as an Alteryx ACE for the analytics transformation that I led across Alaska Airlines. Our data scientists and analysts reported hard and soft dollar impacts that totaled hundreds of millions of dollars in new revenue, protected revenue, re-engineered processes, as well as more than ten thousand manual work hours automated in the first year alone. The honor of becoming an Alteryx ACE meant so much to me because of what Alteryx did to change the lives of my colleagues -- analysts, data scientists, emerging leaders, and people who had never worked with data. Let me say that again. Never. Worked. With. Data. There were a number of folks who were new to data who created sophisticated, game-changing analytics that made a significant impact on the airline. Alteryx has changed the rules of the game. Traditional IT struggles to understand the value Alteryx brings to the business. It’s not what the software can do, but WHO it enables to do it. This is why magic happens. I witnessed an employee who, despite being in the business, having no formal data or IT training, and having never used Alteryx before, in less than 30 days taught themselves Alteryx while creating a workflow in response to a business crisis that saved several hundred million $ in lost/delayed revenue and thousands of man hours in the first quarter of its use alone. It took an entire 6 member IT team 10 months to try and replicate only a portion of it. But because of the cyclical nature of the crisis, the crisis eventually disappeared and IT abandoned the project before they could solve it. Without Alteryx this entire opportunity would have been missed. While IT is busy monopolizing and controlling paintbrushes, Alteryx hands them out to all. How many Picassos and masterpieces are undiscovered in your organization?
