Thanks to generous supporters like you, we raise nearly 20% of our funds for the year in just one day—funds that go directly toward changing lives and building brighter futures for children and families in our community. Over the past three years, The Love Grows Program has grown tremendously: 1) Families Supported: We’ve expanded from serving 6 families a year to 15, providing life-changing resources and support. 2) Early Intervention: Our program now reaches more children earlier, with tools and strategies that help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. 3) Wraparound Services: Our Homeless Prevention initiatives and Resource Room have helped hundreds of families find stability and security during their most challenging times. Here goes - I'm actually kicking off my challenge a day early thanks to an exciting work event all day tomorrow. Baby loss and miscarriage is such a strange topic - the people who have lost children no matter when, why or how, feel like we're tied to this social pressure not to discuss it and "bounce back". The trouble with that is leaving an entire community isolated, alone and trying to navigate their grief and confusion by themselves. Aching Arms and other baby loss charities epitomise bravery, courage and utter resilience to take the worst thing (I personally believe) that can happen to a person and a family and turn that into something immensely positive by helping other people and that is why I will continue to raise money and awareness for Aching Arms. They are a charity and community that have been a lifeline when I've needed it, created team mates, allowed us all to discuss our children where we know we won't feel judged or uncomfortable. October is baby loss awareness month, with a week specifically focused for our little ones. Check in on your colleagues, friends, family or even a stranger. This month is not for us, we know our babies are never coming home but it's a chance for us to be brave enough to educate, to help someone else and so our little ones live on somehow. The Children's Bereavement Centre, a small charity, making a BIG impact... In 2023, 💓 1,300 local children, young people and their parents/carers benefitted from 1:1 bereavement counselling and/or group activities 💓 153 professionals and parents/carers benefitted from bereavement and loss training to better support 100's of locally bereaved families 💓177 of telephone advice and guidance was provided 💓 100% of children and their families that accessed support felt they had benefitted We received only 3% of our income from statutory sources (this is not definite for future years and is only for our Bassetlaw service). The other 97% relies on donations from the community, local businesses, or Trusts. Our events and challenges are a crucial part of these donations, raising the funds we need to continue to operate and support local children and their families during one of the most devastating times in their lives.
