Step into the immersive archaeological site of 2099, where art, technology, and cultural preservation converge in the project "Foreseen 2099." Co-founded by #HKBU assistant professor Ms Pat Wong (aka Flyingpig) and assistant professor Mr Chan Ka Chi, this initiative invites the public to explore the cultural significance of Hong Kong's traditional repair shops. Since January 2024, the team has documented six repair shops in Tsuen Wan and San Po Kong, capturing their unique stories and craftsmanship through digital technology to create a digital archive. These shops, specialising in appliance repair, clothing alterations, and jewelry making, embody a sustainable ethos of valuing repair over disposal. The project features an online archive, physical installations, and interactive exhibitions, reimagining the future of these vital small businesses. Curated by the In Time Of initiative from Nan Fung Group, "Foreseen 2099" is currently on display at AIRSIDE (Kai Tak) until 12nd November, 2024. 😍 China’s "Palace Above Water”?! Why *regular* exhibits WON’T make the cut👇 These museums are redefining what exhibition spaces can look like + offer. In today’s market, exhibitions are a crucial trend for creating stronger brand awareness, education and most importantly - memorable offline engagement. 【🔥 江浙沪 “Jiang-Zhe-Hu"】 An abbreviation used to refer to the regions of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai: KEY areas culturally (and economically) for anyone dealing with China to know about - located at the heart of the bustling Yangtze River Delta. This region has set an *extraordinary* benchmark for how to elevate exhibitions; blending historical art with cutting-edge tech. The result: truly immersive experiences. Shanghai in particular, is often among the FIRST in China to debut trendy, innovative concepts, and continues to influence trends across the region. 【😳 西湖博物馆 West Lake Museum, Zhejiang 】 This scenic museum digitally revitalised the legendary painting "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains". A Yuan dynasty artwork what was tragically SPLIT into two in the mid-17th century. But now, visitors can experience this masterpiece in an animated, lifelike format. 【 🌊 广富林 Guangfulin, Shangahai】 This extraordinary historical site at Shanghai Guangfulin features an Exhibition Hall that appears partially submerged! A unique design that represents the “resurfacing” of antique relics, offering visitors a deep dive into the region’s rich history 🤯 It is part of the Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, an archaeologically significant site with unearthed artifacts dating back to 5,000 years (from the Zhou Dynasty)! ...BUT for brands looking to launch their own exhibits, particularly luxury, heritage is equally important. --> KEY to standing out from everyone else. Do localise your marketing & comms, but stay TRUE to your brand story and roots! --> In doing so, look to integrate high-tech sensory immersion / innovation, as the standard in China is particularly high. We’re bound to see even more incredible examples of deeply engaging exhibits. Will yours be next? ;) Get in touch if you need more insights/help! So! Which museum in China is your favourite? P.S. Any already on your bucket list? Arnold Ma #china #culture #marketing

600 M$ in 3 days. Incredible for a video game based on Chinese tradition, isn't it? And, if you go deeper into it, you find out that, indeed, the architecture, the locations, the iconography is entirely based on real places, buildings and elements of that millenary culture. Does it make sense in the 21st century that a 16th century story still appeal to today's audiences? Perhaps the key is to understand that our culture, no matter how modern it may be, keeps very strong connections with all the historical elements that have contributed to build that culture and make it the way it is today. And that we cannot forget, renounce or discard that connection, because it is deeply routed in our memory. That's why it's easy for us to understand and identify with those kinds of stories. Fascinated by them, whether they are from our culture or from other countries. If you want to know in detail the game and all the cultural references behind it, stay tuned to our channel Skyline China: https://lnkd.in/g7ZFDe56 #skylinechina #blackmythwukonggameplay #china

We want to invite intereseted students and colleagues to Prof. Otsuki's lecture on "History of Modern Japanese Collective Housing and the Need to Learn from the Succession of Collective Housing in Europe" which takes place on Nov. 27, 20224 at 19:00pm at the Festsaal in the main building at Technische Universität Wien, Karlsplatz 13. This event is related to the conference "20th Century Housing Heritage in Europe: Conserving, Participating, and Adapting". The conference focusses on housing concepts and built settlements of the 20th century, which often explicitly addressed hygienical, ecological, communal, and social issues and necessities. We ask how these heritage values can be conserved for the sake of sustainable futures. Forms of use, social interaction, and participation might contribute to the care and careful adaptation of such sites, but also create conflicts. Various actors—from business, politics, conservation, and civil society—define, appropriate, and manage this housing heritage and need to be involved. The conference also examines housing and climate policies, development pressure, and vacancy as powerful contexts. https://lnkd.in/dj2S2g4s #tuwien #todai #universityoftokyo #architecture

【Headline Story of DMatters Feb Issue: Illuminates the Beauty of our City, Bridges East-West Cultures with Love-infused Design】 In today's fast-paced world, people actively yearn for moments of respite, seeking chances to break free from the hustle of life. In this pursuit for tranquility, design has risen as a powerful medium, illuminating the inherent beauty of our cities and providing solace to weary minds.
