📢 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀. According to a study conducted by Nielsen Norman Group, users typically spend only 10-20 seconds on a product page before deciding whether to stay or leave. This means that the product page needs to capture the user's attention and provide relevant information quickly to increase the chances of conversion. Empowering merchants to create personalized and dynamic product pages is what Shopify theme developers can do with Swatches, specifically as follows. ⚙️Create and customize section settings for Swatches In order to ensure that all products within the theme have a consistent structure and organization, developers need to set up the theme's product schema settings and establish dedicated section settings for customizing Swatches. Developers should consider providing options for different swatch shapes or alternative selection methods, such as dropdown menus, to cater to varied merchant requirements. These settings will empower merchants to personalize the appearance and behavior of the product variant picker when utilizing Swatches. ⚙️Update and enhance the product variant picker Next, it is essential to update the logic governing product options to seamlessly integrate Swatches into the product variant picker. This involves developing new functionality that allows the picker to identify and iterate through the available swatch values. Additionally, the variant picker must be capable of rendering different types of swatch pickers based on the section settings, ensuring a dynamic and adaptable user interface. ⚙️Apply dynamic page updates with JavaScript To make sure seamless functionality and a real-time user experience, it is crucial to adjust JavaScript code to handle dynamic page updates. This involves updating how the JavaScript code responds to variant changes. By incorporating a new function into your theme's JavaScript files, merchants can ensure that the swatches displayed accurately reflect the currently selected values. Additionally, sellers can implement logic to mark swatches as unavailable if they correspond to out-of-stock variants, enhancing the overall usability of your product pages. 🛒In conclusion, by implementing Shopify’s native swatches, theme developers empower merchants to create visually appealing, user-friendly product pages. So, let's dive into the world of swatches, customize, iterate, and watch your product pages come alive! -------------- Wgentech - IT outsourcing, E-commerce Enterprise Solutions Contact us at: Email: [email protected] Whatsapp (Korea): +82 010 3028 4010 Website: https://wgentech.com/ #wgentech #ecommerce #shopifythemes #swatches #themes #shopifystore #shopifyswatches #shopify

🟢🟡🟠 Core Web Vitals of Shopify and BigCommerce Demo Stores. With the importance that Google puts on sites usability as one of key ranking factors, it is interesting to see what kind of scores we can get from the get-go when deploying a default Theme / template on a new Ecommerce store. CWVs are not trivial to dissect and a large number of conditions and parameters go into these final UX test scores - it's like comparing rowing race results from different days, where various water, wind, precipitation, and other factors play a huge role in race timing. And, if someone is seriously concerned about their CWVs, they are likely not looking to deploy a basic platform Theme anyhow. Nevertheless, why not score the basics? I played with Shopify 2.0 Dawn and BigCommerce Cornerstone templated demos and dug a bit into scoring sites built on these, home pages, CLPs, PDPs etc. Here is what I see: ⏩ Both themes are low on mobile performance and while both have issues on LCP, BigC has a worse FCP but a slightly better overall Speed Index - i.e. you do need to tweak both to improve performance on mobile - Captain Obvious! ⏩ Accessibility - both are ranking similarly, and in my experience, it only takes a few tweaks to push that to upper 90's on simple templates - most often these are low contrast images / texts and a lack of proper element formatting. ⏩ Best practices - very high and at par, and any variance here is likely to theme default settings on security. ⏩ SEO - you'd think BigC kicks ass here but the only reason Shopify demo is so low in the SEO score is that it's blocked from indexing, he-he : ) I also tested a bunch of sites running both Sh and BigC that are simplistic (bordering primitive) built on these themes without much variations and a bunch of 3rd party code on pages -- just plain vanilla-type sites. What's the overall conclusion? Both platforms' core front-end templates are scoring very similarly _and reasonably well_ for CWVs. What makes a difference? Customizations and attention to front-end code optimization, especially in category landing and product description pages, where most shoppers land from their searches in Google. Not everyone needs perfect CWVs. I see many sites whose numbers are in 40-50-60s and yet, I am having a superb user experience shopping on them as a user. Google can't analyze usability using human eyeballs for every site, so these metrics are a UX proxy and represent just ONE of many SEO ranking factors. If you have a solid site like that of https://lnkd.in/gE9VshEX, for example, you need to work on site performance for sure, but your excellent catalog quality, search, relevancy of personalized recommendations matter a lot more. Go measure your CWVs - https://pagespeed.web.dev/ You can also look at your site's historical CWV changes here - https://treo.sh/, (thank me later 😎) Have a great powerful week, good people! #cwv #ecommerce #performance

"Building E-Commerce Websites: Solving Problems for Users and Developers" As a MERN stack developer, I’m currently working on building a fully-featured e-commerce platform. While e-commerce has transformed how we shop, building these websites comes with its own set of challenges – challenges that, if not handled properly, can frustrate users and developers alike. Here are some common problems users face on e-commerce websites – and how developers can address them: 1️⃣ Slow Loading Pages: Did you know that 53% of users abandon a website if it takes more than 3 seconds to load? Optimizing images, leveraging caching, and using lazy loading can significantly improve speed. A seamless experience can be the difference between a sale and a bounce. 2️⃣ Confusing Navigation: Users need to find products quickly. A clear category structure, intuitive search, and filtering options ensure they don’t feel lost. For example, I’m implementing robust search functionality using MongoDB Atlas and fine-tuned search filters for better usability. 3️⃣ Insecure Payment Processing: Security is non-negotiable in e-commerce. I’m prioritizing SSL, tokenized payment gateways, and secure APIs to build trust and safeguard user data. 4️⃣ Lack of Mobile Optimization: With most users shopping on mobile devices, a responsive design is crucial. I’m ensuring the site works flawlessly across all screen sizes, from browsing to checkout. 5️⃣ Complex Checkout Process: Studies show that 18% of users abandon carts due to a complicated checkout. I’m implementing a one-page checkout flow that’s user-friendly and minimizes friction. As developers, it’s easy to focus solely on features, but real value lies in solving users' frustrations and making their experience as smooth as possible. For anyone building e-commerce platforms, here’s my advice: ✅ Always prioritize the user experience (UX). ✅ Stay mindful of performance and scalability – today’s traffic might double tomorrow. ✅ Test relentlessly – from payments to load times – to deliver a polished product. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced with an e-commerce platform? Let’s learn from each other and keep building websites that truly solve real problems. #EcommerceDevelopment #MERNStack #WebDevelopment #UserExperience #ProblemSolving
