Wanted to rekindle one of my very old relationships... It seems like it didn't quite work out, but at least I've laid a new foundation, and we're both free to build on it if we choose. This experience reminded me of a time when I developed and executed a campaign to win back old leads for a financing solution. After sending out my first email, I received a flood of responses outlining why they hadn't used the product before, highlighting some of our shortcomings. By addressing their concerns and meeting their demands, we were able to convert 30% of them into customers. That's twice the industry standard for conversation rates! Looking to achieve some growth and scale? Reviving old leads might not be a bad idea, especially if you've improved your product since they last saw it. 47% is quite a high number. Asking the user to use magic links and email fields won't prevent this since you can use fake alias such as email+alias@domainname .com (jack+hello@domainname .com). Using the plus sign creates a new alias and you can do this over and over again; jack+hello, jack+today, jack+app..etc Social login work for the most part because users are lazy to keep creating new social accounts. The same is true for SMS. Urging users to use social and SMS or QR code should reduce the fake signups.

For PLG SaaS businesses, adding MORE customers with FEWER free trials may sound paradoxical. Marketing and growth teams have historically sought to maximize top of funnel. More leads = more success. However, "leads" are often fake accounts and bots, or real users who are on their 4th free trial to avoid paying. Our customer Clay, a PLG GTM SaaS product (that is a killer platform and is growing like crazy), found itself grappling with this issue. By implementing Verisoul, they blocked thousands of fake accounts from accessing their free trial - 47% of sign-ups. The crazier part? They added MORE ARR, as users who had previously created multiple free trial accounts converted to customers when they were redirected to paywalls. The end results? They saved >$175k in costs AND added an incremental $150k+ in ARR... in just 30 days 🤯 In addition, their growth team can better track which marketing campaigns drive leads, and trust these leads are real & unique users.
