The Best of Us: Unlike the first book, this one was pretty straightforward. Acting as somewhat of a continuation, we follow Kendall and Ryan to the cabin as they set up for Cameron and Elijah’s honeymoon. Same premise as before: they are unexpectedly snowed in and have to make do until they are able to leave the cabin. Kendall has always harbored a secret crush on Ryan but hates how he sees her. Ryan has a preconceived notion of who Kendall is, and while he is attracted to her, he wants as little to do with her as possible. Being trapped together causes them to find ways to entertain themselves, including a drinking game that removes all judgment and leaves only one thing behind – their lustful attraction for one another https://lnkd.in/e-FV-xwJ #sistersbestfriend #grumpyvssunshine #forcedproximity Blocked: While I want to say I loved this story, one thing that bothered me was the speed and intensity of Bree and Stefan’s relationship—it felt too unrealistic, even for a fictional story. The growth of their relationship lacked depth, and the storyline was so fixated on Bree’s lie that we, as readers, were essentially told to trust that they cared deeply for each other, with the true bonding apparently happening off-page. As I read, I constantly felt that they didn’t truly know each other, and Stefan’s love seemed more like lust. There were also a number of grammatical errors. At one point, I was confused because Stefan was talking to Max but was then called Brian—which was confusing, since Brian was at the front of the plane talking to Bree. https://lnkd.in/e8rbgiPR #traumaticevent #hockeyromance #slowburn Looking for more romantic comedies to read? Everybody struggles. We're all human, so it's normal that some days are going to be harder than others for one reason or another. Today, a combination of things left me feeling a little "off" from my norm. It was the normal emotional letdown after the successful conclusion of some significant work events and programs, some memories and feelings that were accessed after attending a memorial ceremony earlier this week for federal law enforcement agents here in southern Arizona, and the challenges of some personal relationships that aren't in a place where I'd like them to be right now. Fortunately, thanks to everything I learned about Posttraumatic Growth and how to struggle well courtesy of the Warrior PATHH program at the Boulder Crest Foundation, I was able to take this day where I felt some challenges and turn it into something positive so I am headed into my weekend in a better place. I did some self-regulation, engaged in some wellness practices, and worked through that struggle effectively. What worked for me today? A little smattering of: -Music---on my commute to work this morning, I totally jammed along with one of my favorite playlists and sang along to my heart's content, -Physical activity and nature---we needed firewood, so I did some old-fashioned log splitting with an axe to get out of my head and enable a deeper understanding of those emotions and feelings, -Old friends---you can't make old friends, so those that have been around a long time are invaluable. Just having them around and being present makes a positive impact. It's ok to struggle and it's ok to have hard days. The key is knowing what to do with those struggles so you can turn them into strength and growth. I'm choosing to thrive and use these experiences to make me the best version of myself. What are you doing with your struggles? #PosttraumaticGrowth #ptg #StruggleWell #ShiftHappens #WarriorPATHH #VeteransHelpingVeterans #Veterans #FirstResponders #BoulderCrestFoundation In the spirit of not being able to make old friends and cherishing those who have stuck with you for a long time and my love for music, here's a little something extra special for your Friday afternoon: https://lnkd.in/gS4hXCvG

What does Arnold Schwarzenegger have to do with Easter? Well, Easter celebrates when Jesus came back from the dead (his resurrection), right? Why is resurrection or rebirth still important in 2024? I’m not talking about the importance of forgiving sin. I’m talking about the importance of rebirth in general. A couple centuries ago, if your family was filled with locksmiths, chances are you would become a locksmith. You’d just follow your family’s footsteps whether or not it’s what you actually enjoyed. If you were born into royalty, that was your life. No need for a rebirth in the past. Now, in modern society, everybody must go through multiple “rebirths”. Why? 1. Technology change 2. Unlimited options 3. Not needing to follow your family’s footsteps 4. Etc… A great example of this is in the Arnold documentary on Netflix. Going from the world’s #1 bodybuilder to the highest paid actor to the governor of California. 3 rebirths. For me, I went from dirt bike racer to lead singer in a screamo band to CEO of a 102 employee company. Pretty crazy when I reflect on it, LOL. Not to mention, a resurrection is a rising from the dead. It’s funny how most “rebirths” come just after someone is at their lowest point and everyone counts them out. Today, let’s give ourselves credit for all of the rebirths we’ve had to go through to get to this current moment in our life! You are a rebirth master!

Forty years ago, Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” hit the airwaves—and Christmas playlists were never the same. Bob Geldof gets a lot of the credit—and rightly so. He saw a BBC report on the Ethiopian famine and didn’t just sit back. He acted. He rallied a group of 80s legends, creating a moment that raised millions and left a lasting legacy. That kind of bold vision and publicity power? Absolutely essential. But let’s talk about Midge Ure. The quiet one. The doer. He co-wrote the song, composed the backing track, and—on the day of recording—produced the session. Herding artists with big hair (and egos) to deliver a finished single in 24 hours? That’s an achievement we don’t talk about enough. We tend to celebrate the visionaries, the leaders, the ones with the megaphone. But let’s not forget the quiet doers. The ones behind the scenes, quietly turning vision into reality. The ones who make it happen. Here’s to the Midge Ures of the world—the ones who show up, work tirelessly behind the curtain and quietly get sh!t done. Who’s your “quiet hero”? Tag them below and give them the recognition they deserve. Merry Christmas, everyone—and here’s to celebrating the doers this holiday season. 🎄 #Leadership #Teamwork #QuietLeadership #UnsungHeroes
