Partnership vs. Participation. This is the key to Patient-centered care that leads to positive outcomes.
Transforming Health and Care Experiences with Research and Actionable-Insights (Keynote Speaker, Advising Partner, Health Communication Expert)
What are true "patient partners"? How can we empower patients as active partners in health and care? The featured article defines the concept of "patient partners" as individuals with lived experiences who engage longitudinally and bidirectionally in healthcare decision-making for systemic change. The study highlights how patient partners differ from other forms of patient engagement due to their extended involvement and collaborative roles across various healthcare sectors. Highlights ✅ Definition and Scope of Patient Partners: The article differentiates patient partners from other engagement roles, emphasizing their long-term, reciprocal involvement in health systems aimed at systemic change rather than one-time contributions. ✅Gaps in Current Literature: Although patient partnerships have been widely studied, most research is descriptive and lacks a synthesis of impacts and outcomes. There is a need for more theory-driven and comparative studies to advance understanding. ✅Barriers to Consolidation: A major barrier to consolidating knowledge is the inconsistent terminology used to describe patient partners and their roles, which complicates efforts to compare and generalize findings across studies. ✅Future Research Directions: The review calls for a unified conceptual framework to differentiate between types of patient engagement and establish clear definitions. What do you think we could do with 48,500 TB more data from every hospital? And what if that data had already been collected? A shocking 97% of data collected by hospitals and health systems remains unused. With the #HLWFAlliance, I discuss the benefits and approaches to data-informed strategies for patient care, and give a case example on an approach done extremely well at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to drive innovation in patient care. 🌟 Check out my article in the comments below 👇 #HealthcareInnovation #DataDrivenCare #PatientOutcomes #HealthTech #DataInformed ________________________________________________ No more silos, just solutions! | Interdisciplinary outcomes uniting healthcare and wellness practices. What does your Effective Treatment and Long-Term Care Management plan look like? The NHS has introduced its Major Health Conditions Strategy, targeting 6 key conditions. The plan aims to enhance patient outcomes and overall well-being. Effective Treatment and Long-Term Care Management refers to: 🖇️Coordinated care: the framework emphasises the facilitation of seamless integration of patient data across different care settings, promoting coordinated and continuous care 🏥Improved patient outcomes: by analysing comprehensive patient data, you can create personalised treatment plans that improve patient outcomes and satisfaction How can Athera Insights help you align? 👇 “The tools we use (Athera Insights) mean that you can compare yourself to hospitals that are like yours, or to the national picture. The visualisation of the data and what you can pull out has been incredibly useful.” - Jose Lourtie, head of research for the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) Read about the NHS Major Conditions Strategy here: https://lnkd.in/eWdi_63j .#Healthcare #NHSMajorConditionsStrategy #NHS #Healthtech #Clinicalaudits

Less than a week ago, the Lord Darzi Report was released, presenting a rapid investigation into the state of NHS England, with a focus on patient access, the quality of #care, and the overall #performance of the system. The findings are concerning. The NHS is still in the early stages of #digitaltransformation, with "parts of the system yet to fully enter the digital era." Despite a few successful initiatives (e.g., the Targeted Lung Health Check Programme) and promising projects (e.g., the Federated Data Platform), there is a pressing need for a "fundamental tilt towards #technology to unlock #productivity" gains and improve patient #outcomes. However, this will require substantial capital investments, which have been lacking so far. European healthcare systems as a whole face similar #challenges, particularly in light of an aging population and workforce shortages. While technology alone cannot provide the solution, it is increasingly clear that embracing digital tools and innovation will be critical to addressing these challenges and paving the way for more sustainable healthcare systems. https://lnkd.in/dKWMHfen #Healthcare #Digitalhealth #Future
